...Per response...I have enclosed the template.

I have managed to go through all the different downloads and I have a good working setup for the JVC 42" HDTV, model BC3002 Black Crystal series.
I have checked every file for the OTA key "-" so I can enter a channel 43-2 or 43.2 that is needed for OTA digital channels. (subchannel key)
I can not find the "-" or "." function or hex code for this that I can get to work.

1)If someone can provide me the hex code, that would be great.
2)If you know of any other TV mfgs that use JVC code, please let me know and I will check those files for the code.

I do not have the original remote or I could just do a learn...
I use this tv with just a OTA antenna so the digital "." key is very useful.

Thanks for any help

1. Device: JVC Model JLC42BC3002 or 3000
2. Type of device: HDTV
3. Year: 2012
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC8910
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? yes
6. Still have original remote? No
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? Yes everything except the "-" (subchannel)
10. Learning remote question? No
11. Have you tried the JP1 Lookup Tool? Yes

Additiional Info not requested:
My current working file is set to JVC Combo, device is 3 for all current working functions....got everything except this key working.

Try the Lookup Tool at the top of the page. Otherwise, fill out the template so we have enough info to help you.

In the Lookup Tool, for setup code TV/0053, I see a function named "DASH" and another named "-/--", both with EFC=000

Bowhunter, is your partially working setup code TV 0053 or something else?

Since you are using JVC Combo, dev 3, then the 000 EFC that Greg found should work. That translates to OBC 157, dev 3. When you say you tried the lookup tool, did you find that code but it didn't work?

I had actually made my own code number 1053 which requires a Protocol and device update. After reading what you and others said, I changed the id to 0053 but it made no difference not that it should. All my keys are in the device = 3, and 3F hex.

I tried the 000 code and it give me a blank screen when I hit it. (does not work). I am using RM to build the Protocol and device, then transfer it to IR for download to remote. I have tried every (I think) code available on the other site.

I did just find this info ...not sure if it will work for my tv but it does list several different codes. I have no idea what to do with them.... page 5 of the pdf lists subchannel info, but in the 0F code. file:///C:/Users/GJS_Win7_64/Downloads/RemoteCodes.pdf

Your link doesn't work. You need to upload that pdf HERE and post a link to it.

When we ask about a partially working setup code, we're talking about a built-in code you may have tried that worked at least a few functions, not your own upgrade. You are correct that that number is arbitrary. A partially working setup code helps us identify the protocol when the user doesn't know.

In any case if EFC 000 (OBC 157, Hex 3F 46) didn't work, try EFC 138 (OBC 119, Hex 3F 11).

The way you read that is Custom = Device and Data = OBC. So to try Subchannel, for example, use OBC 107 (same as 6B hex) and device 15 (same as 0F hex). Another candidate would be Digital Channel (OBC 28, Device 15). You can also see that 100+ in that table is the OBC 119, Device 3 command you already tried.

Tried both...no luck...same thing, screen goes blank and next number entered just replaces the previous one.

I did try 0053 and some commands worked, so did not...so I had to combine things (ie arrow keys) from other files. Figures this is the last key to get working...always my luck.

My current working setup is JVC combo Protocol with ID 00 98.

Thanks for showing me how to use the above codes. I tried all 3 of them and no luck. None of them worked.
I set them up in L1,L2,L3 so I could just give them a try...

I need a break for awhile...let the brain rest....
Worst case I can live with just the up down channel stuff...
I might drop a post on the other site to see if someone has a remote for the jvc that can help.

You have been very helpful...thanks!
Let me know if you need the Rm file or anything else...
But...as I said...I can live without it....

Thanks

Sure thing.

The last thing you could try is every possible code. There are 256 possibilities for each Device, so that's 000-255 using device 3 and 000-255 using device 15. You can skip the 40 or so you already know to save a little time. Just be aware that you may run across a code that puts your tv in service mode or resets it. This is rare but possible. I've done many code searches like this and never had a problem.

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

LOL....
Darn...you had to suggest that...didn't you...
Now, knowing what a type person I am...
I am sure at some point I may begin the search.

Just to verify....I can try the codes in any of the keys....correct?
What I may do is just wipe and use the M and L keys maybe even the play, ff, etc and do them as a batch.

I think I will email JVC first to see if they will provide the code. I called them, but of course the Cust. Serv. person said no...sure it was something he didn't even care to get involved with.

Thanks Again,
Bow

I usually make a new device with all 40 or so buttons assigned to different codes, plus another 40 shifted keys, so I can test 80 at a time. A good process would be to do the first 80 in device 3, try them all, then simply change to device 15 and try those. Then repeat for the next 80, etc. Don't forget that the number keys require 2 presses of Set to perform a shifted function.
