|

Hello all.
I've been a user of the 8810/8910 series for a looooong time. I never was able to upgrade to a JP1 setup (no parallel port when the first cables were out, and now the expense just seems too much for old remotes), but thanks to the forums and the learning ability I was always able to make things work.
However, I recently added an Apple TV that I have modded to run XBMC.
I know the XBMC will recognize Windows MCE remotes, and I have one with an IR receiver hooked up that works ok, but I would of course like to have a one remote solution.
I searched and found that the 8910 had a modem upgrade available for Windows MCE: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=7938
Thanks to Robman for the file. I followed the instructions to install the file and the LCD said COMPLETE, so I assume everything worked.
But when I went back in to setup, I tried every MCE code I could find in the JP1 Lookup tool, and they all said NOT FOUND.
1272
1805
2049
1708
1972
2083
So.... any ideas what I am doing wrong? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Joe |

The original thread for this WAV upgrade says to use VCR 1972. Please make sure that you're in VCR mode when you try to assign 1972 as the setup code |

Thanks. The original thread didn't load for me at first. Weird.
I tried everything else (DVD, TV, CBL) except VCR.
The good news - Success!
The bad news - no activity from the IR receiver. I think probably because I have an off-brand MCE remote/receiver. I've ordered a certified HP remote/receiver and will check it when it arrived.
We'll see.
Thanks again,
