Need bin file for Windows Media Center remote

Is this possible? Or is the weird IR sequence of media center remotes not able to be handled by the slingboxes? I have a solo I'm trying to get going with a media center. Thanks.

Didn't Alan's bin work? Or didn't you find it, because Alan speaks English-English and so spells center Centre? lol

I did search on media center!! Thanks, I'll give it a try. And thanks to Alan as well. Maybe my thread title will guide other yanks to the right place.

OK, the buttons provided worked fine. There are several buttons that are missing on the remote that are necessary to allow full access. The "start" button is the main one which would allow the base media center menu to be called up. As it is the only thing that can be done is to view live TV. But I have remote potato on the same Media Center and I found the remote in it will allow all of the functions required.

I put the remote potato and the slingplayer windows side by side until I get a recorded program or movie launched, then I maximize the slingplayer. The remote provided in the slingplayer allows for FF pause and other functions required once the recording is playing.

Maybe there is a way to get the color (colour) buttons to hook up to the media center buttons. I'll have to look into that.

Thanks to all for the help so far as I have a workable solution for using my laptop remotely. I don't think it will work very well for my tablet though unless I use 2 tablets one for the remote potato and the other for the slingplayer.

Edit: for those who would ask why not just use the remote potato to view the recordings, the reason is as follows: My media center I'm using is a HP z560 which has a older dual core processor and it won't handle the encoding to give a very good quality video. With the slingplayer I get excellent video quality. Also the remote potato does not allow for all of the functions of media center.

Also I notice during setup of the slingbox, there is not a provider selection that allows for over the air broadcast.

Being unfamiliar with the Windows Center I can't begin to guess what buttons go where, and then the introduction of a potato has me thoroughly confused.

After looking at Alan's RDMU I see that
Start is on Custom 10
There is a Live-TV function assigned to the LIVE button.
The color buttons are currently unassigned.

With the 150byte protocol and the 57 byte upgrade, I'm wondering if some of the keys were not assigned to keep the upgrade within the slingbox size limit.

If you have downloaded remotemaster and the maps and images, you can create your own bin from alan's RDMU file.

Just drag the functions onto the desired buttons and then export the bin.

Keep in mind that there is a bin size limit. I thought the size limit was 252, but it might be less than that.

The Remote Potato is third party software that runs in the background on a media center PC. It makes the PC act like a slingbox as far as any recordings on the PC is concerned. It lacks the ability to handle live TV however, so it is not a replacement for a slingbox. Also unless you have a pretty powerful PC, the video quality is not as good as slingbox. But the remote control in Remote Potato will operate all of the functions.

OK, I finally was able to make the BIN files and assign the start function to the menu button. That pretty much is all that was necessary, although I may try to add a period function to some button for selecting the over the air channels. Thanks for the assistance.
