Learn from my mistake -- be very careful when plugging in your home-made cable -- if you get it upside down it fries the remote.
Admittedly this was with a home-made cable. Perhaps with a purchased cable they are keyed to fit the opening in the housing.
For my new/replacement RCRP05B, I carefully opened the case, snipped off pin 1, and will put a plastic 'key' in pin 1 of the cable's connector. |

Have you asked for any help with the fried remote? We have been able to help people restore them in the past. _________________ Rob

I did not ask, since I had searched the forum and had not run across any success stories for this remote.
But I still have the old remote if anyone wants me to try and restore it -- perhaps it would help someone else in the future if they make the mistake I did.
thank you for your interest. |

send me a PM. I've successfully fixed a couple of remotes for people that were partially fried.
Describe what it does when you plug it in? Can you download and upload to it? What does it do when you try to use it? _________________ this JP1 stuff is a sickness! |

I don't think is actually accurate btw... I'm normally to lazy to look/remember so I just guess when I stick the cord on. If RMIR won't upload/download, I just flip it. I can guarantee you all of my RCRP05B have had the cable plugged in wrong and a upload/download attempted without any issue. My cables are the simple one Tommy posted and a premade one from diygadget. |

I am happy to report that 'unclemiltie' sent me a custom upgrade that solved my problem! Also I had a stuck key from when I removed the cover and put it back on.
Thank you unclemiltie! |
