I have a URC-6131 with JP-1 interface. The sony code 1058 is almost good enough. It controls the volume, can select the various inputs on the receiver, and can play the current CD, search forward or backward, and go to next or previous track on the CDP C-265 5 disc player. The one thing I'm lacking is the ability to change discs. The selection of amp inputs could also use some re-arranging. I checked out the advanced sony codes site, and while experimenting, I found it strange that I could make the play, stop, etc. (anything that already worked on the remote) work by doing the "manual EFC code" method (i.e. pressing set, then the EFC code for a specific function) but could not get any of the direct disc accessing or disc skip features to work.
OK it's late, and this is getting complicated, and I have no idea if I'm making any sense to anyone reading this.
One suggestion I am contemplating (since I can't get my VCR to respond to any codes) is buying an 8810w learning remote, which I'm told I could then use to learn functions and then use that info to somehow program those into my 6131.
Now that I've thoroughly confused myself, I'll just leave it at that for now, and see if anyone can make heads or tails of it enough to give me any advice. Thanks for listening to my blathering! |

Yes, getting an 8811 would allow you to learn the signals from the original remote. Then you would download the info from the remote to IR and look at the learned signals tab. The signals would be decoded there and would specify protocol, device, subdevice, and EFC/OBC. You'd use that information to create a keymove.
It's possible that your cd changer uses multiple device/subdevice numbers and that's why the keymoves would work for some functions but not others. If you post a link to where you found the advanced code information, then someone might be able to help you figure it out without needing the learning remote. |

Also AU1058 uses a two byte protocol and you can't do key moves with EFC's. You can calculate the bytes using the Tools|EFC calculator in IR:
The first byte is found by entering EFC and taking the hex value.
The second is to put the DEVICE number in the OBC box for LSB.
Discrete On EFC=113 ==> 74 hex
Device 16 ==> 08 hex
Key move is (select the hex radio button in IR):
74 08 with one space between bytes.
I am pretty sure all the CD setup codes are single byte. _________________ -Jon |
