Iview 2000STB BIN file problem

Post by Alfredo »

Hi Everyone,
GREAT forum here. I own a Slingbox Pro and recently added an Iview 2000STB to the BNC/RF input of my box. As you can imagine, Iview is not supported by slingbox. I surfed the web and came across a great write up Alan Richy and references to this forum.
After a few searches in the file section of this forum, I located Iview 2000STB Files that were created by “Vickeyg2003”. I contacted Alan and asked for advice in creating BIN files (Unfortunately I am Tech challenged!).
He was gracious enough to create the BIN files for me. I subsequently installed the files in my C:\Program,,,Slingmedia\SBAV directory and followed Alan’s write up on having the Slingbox download the files. The file (C2010_PL.BIN) was downloaded and a custom remote was displayed. I tried all the keys and none of them worked!!
I tried moving the IR LEDs and also did the “Camera Test” and verified that my attempts were futile :)
Finally yesterday, I contacted “vickeyg2003” and asked if she can lend a hand. She advised me to do a post and explain in detail what has occurred. She also advised to attach the BIN files for her or anyone else to view.
Sorry for the lengthy explanation, but I am trying to give as much info as I possibly can. I will attempt to attach the BIN files, but as I mentioned earlier, I am tech challenged (and OLD) :?
Sincerely,
Alfredo aka Farhad

The forum software here doesn't have a feature where you can attach files to posts, so what we do is load the file in question to the Diagnosis Area in the file section (link at the top of the page) and then post a link to the file in the post.

All I did was convert the RM file that Vicky posted at https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=9683 to BIN files. I cannot find iView as a recognised manufacturer on the Harmony database so cannot confirm if the values were correct.

Not sure what Alfredo means by "..also did the “Camera Test” and verified that my attempts were futile...". if you mean you didn't see a white flash then you have a broken IR Blaster so nothing is going to work. If you do see a white flash and you are convinced the locatin is correct then I can only assume the code values are incorrect.

I own 2 iView 2000STB units. Its an inexpensive ATSC/clear QAM tuner, that works great for keeping your old analaog equipment on line if your cable company sends out clear Qam signals. Comcast sends a few(mostly local), WOW on the other hand sends out the typical SD basic cable channels in clear QAM.

The fact that the IR blasters don't blast, would indicate that the slingbox isn't sending ANYTHING, not just a wrong signal. I noticed you only posted a _PL file, not an _RV file. I assume you placed both in the proper folder.

I opened the _PL BIN you posted and verified that it is the NEC1 Device 0 upgrade. and there are values assigned to the buttons that I would expect to see for the iView. Typically I would have also checked the _RV Bin, to make sure that they were both correct. It is easy for me to get distracted when creating the Bins, so when Alan's bin's don't work, that's what I check in Alan's zip file.

I assume its either the location of the BIN file, or a broken IR Blaster that is the cullprit. I haven't verified the RV file, and if your unit used the RV file, that could be an issue, but the non-flashing IR file typically would indicate a broken IR Blaster.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Vicky and Al, The IR LEDs did flash (Camera Test) but it did not control any of the keys! However, I have great news and perhaps some troubleshooting tips that can be helpful to this great Forum :D

After countless tries and not being able to control the Iview. I thought of an idea  . What if the "brain" of the Slingbox is somehow stuck in the last Remote/device that I was using before I purchased Iview?!

I used to have a DTA Motorlal box from Comcast a while back. So I went into the Slingbox setup, re assigned the input to DTA Motorola Box and tried sending few remote control signals. Obviously, nothing happened (IR LEDs flashed, but no channel changes). Then, I went back to Setup and set the box as custom and called up Al Richy's BIN file (C2010). The momonet I hit the power button (I am in Mexico!), the box shut off in US (Wife and I jumped up for joy)!

SO, If a similar situation was to happen for someone else, IT MAY BE a good idea to reassign the remote to something that is already in the Slingbox directory, and then re-load the custom BIN file one more time.

Last but not least,,,,I am grateful to AL and Vicky for their help and advice :)

I no longer stuck on Channel 5

Good, glad it's sorted. Actually I suspect if you had reset the input before applying the new code it might have had the same effect. Not strictly necessary but you never know what these boxes are doing 'under the hood'
:)
