Youview Talk Talk - XMP protocol

Post by Noirfire »

Hey,

I've built a XMP (slingbox) protocol remote for the 'YouView Talk Talk' STB

In the summary of IR it shows the remote as have the following details;

Key - Power
Protocol -XMP-1
Device - 102
SubDevice - 32
OBC - 15
Hex Cmd - 0F
EFC - 058

I have transfered this in to the RMDU file which is attached below, when I try and use the file I get no response from any of the keys.

Anyone have any idea where I might be going wrong here?

Did you try it with the Final Frame toggle selected?

As you may already know, JP1 remotes have a very hard time learning the XMP protocol because it uses 16 burst pairs, whereas JP1 remotes can only learn 10 pairs, so DecodeIR needs to do a lot of guessing to decode these learns.

Therefore, I would advise that you buy yourself an IR Widget from Tommy for capturing XMP signals.

Yes, a Widget will do a much better job of recording XMP signals. If you don't have one, and need to use a remote to learn the signals, it is useful to learn as many functions as possible. Certain combinations of device/subdevice and OBC are easier for the remote to learn, and if we have a full set of learns, it is likely that we can be sure if the device and subdevice are correctly decoded.

The zip file that Phil posted includes 4 IR files, so it probably is a full set.

Phil,
It seems to me when we were first working on the XMP we had the xmp1 and xmp2 reversed in some early versions. This has been corrected, so I doubt this is happening to you, but could you tell me what the fixed data bytes are on your version of remotemaster?

Many of these signals are fully decoded without any recovery of lost information. So the device is definitely 102.32, and the signal type XMP1.

I have successfully produced about 20 Custom Remotes for users that use the XMP1 protocol and looking at them I see I have never selected the Final Frame toggle.

However, I have also never put 68 into the OEM Code window. See what happens if you leave that blank.

Hey Rob

Yeah I tired the using the final frame toggle but it had no effect remote was still unresponsive.

How do I contact Tommy about getting an IR Widget?

Hi 3FG,

Yep the IR files contain all the keys for the remote. I pretty confidant that the Subdevice and device number are correct as they are pretty much all the same.

Hi Vicky,

Sorry being a relative newbie to this I'm not sure how I find out what the Fixed Data bytes is in my Remote Master?

I've looked but have unsuccessfully found nothing that looks like what you’re after. Knowing me I've probably being looking straight at it but missed it!

Hi Alan,

I did also try it without 68 in with the toggle on and off when I first created it still no luck I'm afraid.

Have you got a proper Manufacturer/Model Number so I can install it on my Hamrony Remote and check the codes ?

I take it you have done all the checks to make sure the IR Blaster is actually firing ?

Hey Alan,

yeah I've ask the user to check the IR Blasters are setup correctly and he's insured me that they are. I will ask him to check that they are firing correctly should be as its a brand new Slingbox Solo.

The model name 'Huawei DN370T' the STB & Remote haven't been released yet as it a new product for the UK.

I didn't pack an 8910 or any learning remote to shoot these. So I can't do a Widget to Widget comparisson. Most of the timings are within 20 microseconds in a UEI to Widget comparisson. However the midframe off time is about 200 shorter and the leadout time is off by 1000.

If RM is up to date on the machine and the fixed data being calculated looks like this, on the computer creating the bin

2B 0F 44 66 2E 00 40

And if user errors can be ruled out, such as IR blaster placement can be ruled out.

Then maybe someone should the capture the learns shot from an 8910 to the upgrade shot from the widget to see if we need to tweak the upgrade protocol for this unit.

Too new for the Harmony database unfortunately. Closest it gets is the DC730, and while that uses XMP1 it has 62.16 as the device. That is the same as many of the Comcast STBs. I guess you might try the one at https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=9778 just in case the values you have are wrong. Nothing else to suggest I'm afraid.
