!!!SLINGBOX remote control BIN file help!!!!

Post by franklozano »

I've just bought 2 new SLINGBOX PRO HD sets. I've hooked on up in the living room where we have the small problem. I'd like to be able to TURN OFF/ON the TV. It's a Toshiba Regza TV. It came with Toshiba Remote CT-90255 (part No. 75002859)

However we are now using a DIGITAL CONVERTER from Comcast since everything went digital and we now use a COMCAST Digital Transport Adapter Universal Remote controlling a COMCAST/ CISCO DTA30 ADAPTER and I want to be able to use the POWER button to turn on/off TV. The profile we are using now to change the channels is a generic MOTOROLA version. The remote looks exactly the same.

Do I have to build my codes to do this? If so, where do I start? Or is there a way I can use other codes/ or upload .bin to my slingbox account folder?

I'm WAY WAY NEW at this and ready for the challenge, BUT if somebody out there has a way to save me time, I'M UP FOR THAT MORE!

Grateful there is a place like this online.

I may be able to help, but let's discuss it a bit further :D

First, forget about the remote types and model numbers, they are not relevant to this disussion. All we need to know is the TV Model number?

So as I understand it you have configured the coax input to use the built-in remote for the Comcast DTA box, which does not have a Power button. So the first thing to say is that we can do nothing to tweak the built in remote. What we can do is build you a Custom Remote to operate the DTA box. But unfortunately it is a limitation of the system that a Custom Remote can operate ONLY one device, so there is no way of combining the DTA box and the TV in a single remote. So that is a rather pointless exercise.

HOWEVER, I might be able to build a Custom Remote for the TV. You could then allocate that Remote to one of the other inputs, such as S-Video. That would then allow you to operate both the DTA box when you have coax selected as your input, and also the TV by switching the input to s-video

Does that make sense ?

Alan,

It makes PERFECT SENSE. It's what I figured I have to do so perfect. I'm sorry I forgot the number of the TV!!! Toshiba 42HL196 REGZA 42-inch 1,080p LCD HDTV. I would love to use one of the NON-used inputs and assign the remote we're putting together. I'd LOVE to be able to TURN ON the TV and to change the INPUT if possible. And love to learn how to do this too since it sounds way complicated. What next?

OK, I have built the Remote for you, it's at https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=11029

As you will see from the instructions I have put the function 'InputNext' onto the Red button.

Assuming it works, if you need any other function from the Custom button list mapped to the other colour buttons let me know.

(BTW, the functon 'Sleep' is also on the Pause button, seemed logical :-) )

If you want to learn how to do it yourself just read the article at https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=6413
