Hello,
I am looking for a universal remote control IC that can learn and send IR codes.
It is very hard to find an IC for this that is cheap, and just fulfills my needs.
16 IR codes are enough to store for me.
So the IC should essentially have the following pins:
4 pins for a keyboard value (0-15)
1 pin to indicate that the keyboard is active
1 pin to indicate that the IC should send IR signal or receive and learn
1 pin to indicate ready for receiving, and finished learning
1 pin for the IR led
1 pin for the IR receiver
I know that some people will say that it is easy to implement easily in a microcontroller.. but I simply dont have time for this, and if it is so easy how come that there is no kit available like the IC that I describe above?
Note that it should be very cheap chip!
The project from Tauntek is too expensive:

So I want similar, but cheaper. No need for a database, as I will learn the codes anyhow.

Hej Pascal,
it is probably next to impossibly to come up with something that will satisfy all your requirements, in particular within your budget constraint. But you may like to check out this project, unfortunately only in German. (I have built two of those.)
