replaytv 5000 remote button changes (channel up-down w/TV)

Help! I think I'm very, very, very close to changing my replaytv 5000 remote's (standard is replay's) channel up/down to my Sony-TV' channel up/down. Due the the fact I never use the these buttons since channel surfing is too slow on replay (always use guide), I wanted to convert these two buttons so I can control my tv (I already can control volume, power, and mute!). I just received my JP1 cable yesterday, loaded all the necessary software, pasted the changes from RemoteMaster to IR, uploaded the changes, power light flashed a couple times, and nothing! No message from IR and the remote works the same. Appreciate any help.

To do this, you will need to use the device combiner. The channel buttons are only active in Replay mode, not TV mode.

Also, ch+/- is very useful for Replay Guide navigation (both channel and
replay) since it is page up/down.

I was originally going to post that also, then I remembered that this is the R5k remote, that has page up/down buttons in addition to channel up/down buttons.

I looked real hard and couldn't fine the separate page up/down buttons
on the 5k remote. Is it possible a different remote was being referenced?

You know, you're right. I must have been thinking of the R4k remote (see below). Which of course brings us back to the original point that it's not a good idea to kill the CH +/- buttons because they do more than just change channels.
