Quick thanks for all that made this possible, After years I've hit a snag. Got new TV and AVR so redoing my remote. It's all complete, except I can't get Zone 2 buttons to work for my Denon AVR.

1. Device: DENON AVR 790
2. Type of device: AVR
3. Year: 2010
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC9910 with extender
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? yes
6. Still have original remote? yes
7. Checked the file section? yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? yes
9. Partially working setup code? yes
10. Learning remote question? yes
11. Have you tried the JP1 Lookup Tool?yes

OK. I have loaded the values I have learned from the remote for Zone 2 input selections contained in this file:

http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=10297

into this code file I got from the files section:

http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=7850

I inserted them near the bottom of the functions list replacing some that I didn't need. They all start with ZONE 2 xxx and ended up with this file:

http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=10296

All functions work well except for the Zone 2 input selections. I have tried creating an upgrade without extender and using all the different protocols - DENON K, DENON, DENON COMBO, DENON COMBO OFFICIAL and nothing seems to work, I have also changed the bytes2/dev to 12 to see if that makes a difference. I suspect it's something simple I'm missing but don't know.

I am using an extender, so as far as I know, there is no way to import the learned codes from the learned codes file, which do work(see first file link) into the final file I am trying to finish, which is this:

http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=10298

The device is bound to RCVR and is AMP 1444

Thanks a mill in advance,

Some of the learned signals use the Denon-K protocol (ie, ipod, 4, sat), which is different to the regular Denon protocol. When you tested your upgrade, did the Zone 2 buttons that use the Denon protocol work?

What you will need to do is create a separate upgrade just for the 3 Denon-K functions, and then program them using keymoves.

The files you have here indicate you should be using Device 12 for the Zone 2 functions related to "Input" changes.

However these respective functions in these files are setup using Device 2.

I'm not sure why you would change them to 2, since only the Power related functions in Zone 2 are using device 2. Try this out. Load this device upgrade (http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=7850) into your remote. Don't change any of the protocol or function parameters. Just the button assignments, so you know where the Zone 2's DVD, HDP, TUNER, TV, VCR, and V.AUX. Now test it with your 9910 remote and check their responses. If it doesn't change then shut off the RF Extender and point its IR blaster directly at the receiver to see if it works that way.

as always. You're suggestions were right on. The original devon combo file uploaded by robman worked. So I compared the one I had modified and found that somehow I had changed the Dev 12's to 2's in KM. Hence the reason why they didn't work in any protocol i tried. Should have caught that.
Now I have my kickass remote that no one really appreciates that it is a work of art, except those here.

I have one question off topic if I may. I love my URC9910 with it's UHF powers but it is not available anywhere anymore. What remote is closest to this that I could buy in the future?
Thanks again

You're welcome. Glad to help and happy that you got it all sorted out. Thank you for the feedback.

There aren't many remotes which has that specific capability. There's the Acoustic Research Xsight Touch ARRX18G remote that is somewhat similar if you get the optional ARRE433B RF Extender. It is a UEI remote but I don't know if it'll ever be compatible with our JP1 tools. There's the Logitech Harmony 900 but it is much more expensive. I've heard of the UEI Remote Control Extender which can turn a regular IR remote into an RF remote by using a special rechargeable battery with a built-in transmitter. Don't know where you can get them though. I'd probably just buy a third-party IR repeater/extender if this feature ever became necessary to me.

Sorry, I'm not much help in this arena. Maybe one of the more seasoned gear-heads will chime in and can offer you a better answer.

eferz,

Thanks for posting that UEI extender. Next Generation has made that sort of RF battery system for years, but this is the first I've seen of the UEI version.

from,

The Xsight eferz posted is a good RF remote. I have one myself and rather like it, especially considering the low price. Unfortunately there is no JP1 equivalent to the old 9910, so you'll have to settle for one of the 3rd party RF or IR repeater options if you want to keep using JP1. My favorite at the moment is THIS Insignia, if you can find one. The radio shack 15-100 is the most similar to your 9910, but it's also hard to find and requires a somewhat difficult hardware mod to connect a JP1 cable.
