JP1 Remotes

I am doing a Keymap-Master (908) upgrade for a Califone DVD/ VCR combo. It struck me that I don't know whether to assign this to the DVD or to the VCR? My main thought would be to do the DVD. I removed the $ from the Device 1 field and left D2 & D3 blank. That did the trick. The remote acts like it should now. :D

Yes, if you mean when you load the upgrade to IR, it brings up a window that says 'would you like to apply this to a device' or something like that.

I am unfamiliar with this term as it applies to remotes. Discrete (in dealing with amplifiers) means one unique amp per channel. How does this pertain to the way a remote controls a particular device?

I have a JP1 cable on its way, so I'm just doing the learning stuff 'the old fashioned way'. It may be a memory full kind of thing, I learned an entire remote, because I couldn't find codes for a uswest cable box.
If that is the case, I hope I can consolidate stuff once the JP1 cable gets here ...
