DVD/ VCR combo, which device to use?
I am doing a Keymap-Master (908) upgrade for a Califone DVD/ VCR combo. It struck me that I don't know whether to assign this to the DVD or to the VCR? My main thought would be to do the DVD. Any ideas how I should proceed. Also a simple question. I do not know if it is proper for me to just "make ...

Alright, the EFC 019 worked perfectly.
As you mentioned, the TV input button was a device punch through, so I can just hit the device, then TV/VID to cycle through the varioud inputs.
Thanks! My remote is darn near perfect now. Who ever designed that DirecTV remote has no idea of ergonomics. You'd ...

DirecTV on a URC-8811
The DirecTV remote has buttons that I would like to add to my 8811. I have uploaded Robs D10 files to both my 8811 & 8011. They work fine, except for the MENU button brings up the DirecTV ACTIVE channel, which is weird. The other button is the TV INPUT button. This has some strange stuff going on ...

I happened to notice this. Dakota Fanning was surfing with a 6131, I believe. Right about the time she was complaining that there was no Tivo in the house...

URC-8011
Okay, so I started to panic after learning that my fav 8811 would be discontinued. I popped over to the Fry's electronics store and saw that indeed, they had not 8811's. I found (with the remotechart.xls) that the URC-8011 seemed to fit the bill for a possible replacement. I picked up one to ...

First, thanks for your time. I got the Device ID 27 from IR - a learned button. Put the $ before it from a JP1ers post. the others, I got from KM there is a tab called Protocol help; in there it mentioned that (I think it was a Panasonic code) the oem code #1 is 2 and the oem code #2 is 32. From ...

cablebox upgrade completely failed
I thought I had it licked, until it was time to actually try the upgraded remote. Was for a Scientific Atlanta explorer 3250, code 0477. Did the copy and paste from Devices4, added 7 keys (keymoves, I believe they are called) and with a little help from a fellow JPer got the upgrade into IR (v4.01 ...

Protocol ID not showing up in KM
So I was doing okay on my first upgrade for my Scientific Atlant cable box (code 0477). A couple keymoves, nothing major. Learned what I needed and imported that stuff in KM (v8.07). Was feeling pretty good until I tried to paste the upgrade info into IR (v4.01).

Discrete power?
I am unfamiliar with this term as it applies to remotes. Discrete (in dealing with amplifiers) means one unique amp per channel. How does this pertain to the way a remote controls a particular device?
Yes, by this ? I am labeling myself a full-on newbie. The header said no dumb questions, right?
