JP1 Remotes

I've spent too long fiddling with this, and I haven't gotten too far. I was able to successfully reprogram my RS 15-2116 via JP1 -- but I'd much rather use my RTV remote for basic day-to-day functions. I want to extend the remote to work with a few devices. It already controls the RTV (obviously ...

A few questions:

(1) Do I need to run any of the batch files included with an extender if I want to start over from scratch with the remote?

(2) How do I know for sure if I've successfully upgraded the remote?

(3) The installation readme included with the extender talks about pre-configured ...

I tried that, and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I even tried using the discrete ON and OFF codes found here:

But I couldn't get them working.

There are several JVC receiver upgrade codes in the Yahoo file store:

Although I didn't see that particular model, I'm sure you will retain all or most of the functionality using another JVC model. And that's from my own experience ...
