Two RS 15-2117 Remotes with RF controllers & JP1 Cable
I'm really sad to say goodbye to these remotes because they've served us so well, but we no longer use them and they should be used! These RS 15-2117 are fantastic remotes, JP1 compatible, can be used as IR or with the RF units included. Backlit buttons and LCD screen (which can be turned off if you ...

I recently found out that I have a rare genetic disorder that affects my connective tissue & it's causing a whole host of problems for me. The most pressing is that my airways are collapsing completely. I had major surgery about seven weeks ago that involved cutting through my back and reinforcing ...

OK, got to admit, not incredibly wild about the look of any of those remotes...surprising that there aren't more buttons on them. I do need to control at least 6 devices in the living room so I don't know how complicated it is to get access to the 3 other devices on the RCA. Is there a current list ...

Hi Rachel,
If the only problem with the 15-2117 is that some of the buttons are becoming hard to press, that's one of the easiest fixes out there. All you need to do is open up the remote and clean the button sheet and the PCB.
If you want to try it, and you need more detailed instructions, let me ...

Bummer. The 2117's are having problems which is why I was looking for alternatives. Plus, I've reaaaalllly maxed out the memory with device upgrades. Go figure.
Prontos have just been announced that they were discontinued, and I've looked at the harmonys but they're just too pricey for what I need ...

Converting a Jp1 (old school) cable
Hello,
I've sort of lost touch with the latest and greatest JP1 incarnations but still use my old school (original?) style JP1 cable to program our RS 15-2117 remotes. We're in the process of upgrading our remotes to some Sony (non Jp1 but learning and macro capable) and I've used the JP1 to teach ...

Thanks for the response, Rob. I really appreciate it. :)
Once the new driver program comes out, would just the standard USB cable suffice? If so, how much would that lower the cost? Also, I suppose I could "borrow" my husband's laptop which is 32-bit and use it instead but I'm curious if the same ...

Hello,
I've been a JP1 user now for several years. I have a standard original JP1 cable with parallel port interface and I use it with my RadioShack 15-2117 JP1 remote. I use this with a rather old desktop computer, and I recently realized that the JP1 interface is the only reason I'm using that ...
