They have v4.6 up there now, and I tried it with a DIY JP1 cable. I had a lot of trouble with the old 3.1 (in Vista). It worked for two or three times then always got errors. So far, I've been able to transmit both way without any hiccups at all. Hope it keeps working.

A few broken buttons

I have an ancient 6800 that's served me extremely well 'lo these many years, but lately a few keys along the right edge just won't work (3 PiP, tv/vcr, and the setup buttons).

I opened it up, and I didn't see any obvious problems with the traces in the area. The pads under the buttons are fine ...

Yup, I went through and deleted the old remnants of the driver, reinstalled, rebooted, and nothing has gotten any better yet.

9910 and USB cable trouble

So, I went to monkey with my settings on my 9910 this evening, only to be stopped by the dreaded ""SDA is being held low" error. I've been trying various things, fresh/not-so-fresh batteries, etc. I wasn't sure exactly which way the cable went on the JP1 connector, so I tried it either way. But ...

Getting back to an older thread, if anyone is interested, I started a small wiki at Wikia. It's got some basics starter info. I hope to expand it a bit more, as I've been getting the itch to tweak my remotes even further.

How about this: How many might be interesting in participating in a wiki for JP1 docs, howtos, macro recipes, etc?

I was looking at Wikia.com a bit. They host for free, as long as the content is under the GFDL. Also they have the Scratchpad section to start a wiki immediately, without the whole approval process the formal part of the site has.

A wiki?

I was wondering, if there had been any thought into perhaps forming a wiki section for all the documentation? That might spur more documentation for beginners, as other beginners like myself, slowly get a handle on all the things JP1 remotes can do.

I just wanted to come back to say that the upgrade went perfectly. The power button works as it should, even.

Thanks for the work you put into everything here.

I have done more playing with the television. Several of the keys I had learned apparently were done while in DVD mode, for whatever default DVD the remote is programed to use. So I put those keys back to device 2 to get them to work.

Since that leaves only eight keys using device 6, and they are ...

Very nice work Robman. The TV is taking the keys just fine. Is there a way to take those codes into KM? I use a 9910 mostly now. The 6800 is secondary and is the one I learn keys on. Also, I wanted to see how some of the obcs went, to hopefully find some hidden functions, like specifying inputs ...

9910 Power resets

I have a rather young 9910, and lately it has been going through power resets. I have it rigged with the extender, so most of the time I pick it up and it's in non-extender mode as it reset and I wasn't around to hit the power button.

At first I figured the batteries may have been coming loose, so ...
