JP1 Remotes

There have been a lot of combo executors created since the days when we originally created the Device Combiner, and we have one for Sharp. Could you show me the KM file that you're using as I may be able to convert it to an RMDU file for you.

It is possible that in the many enhancements I have made to RMIR, I have done something that prevents it working. It certainly appears, in the way I said above, but I have no way of testing whether it works. I am sure you will let me know if it doesn't :D .

I just tried with and without pin 1 with jumper wires and alligator clips. On both straight up serial port from back of computer and through the PL2303 USB to serial adapter, pin 1 is definitely needed. Would not work without pin 1 connected. It did not make a difference either way with the FTDI USB ...

Can you clarify which additional wire may need to be added? When I "upgraded" the RS15-100, I left pin 5 on the JP1.3 header unconnected. Is this the additional wire you speak of?

I got a new Gearmo FTDI-8 USB to serial adapter because allegedly FTDI is the most compatible and has better drivers. It certainly is for communicating ...

OK. I got the URC 8910 and tried it again. Same problem. Then I swapped out the plain diode for a Schottky Diode and that was the ticket! It worked.

So if you are having problems with your simple parallel interface cable, make sure it has a Schottky diode and not just any ol' diode

Wow. Dead IR LED just happened to me. Thanks to this post, I had it fixed in under 10 minutes (yes, I just happened to have some spare IR-LED's laying around).

Here's what led up to it I think:

...on a RS 15-2104. Last time I used it on this remote was March of 2009 so it is the same computer. The only difference I can think of is that I had to remove the backlighting from it cause it was flaking out with it, not sure when I did that.
