Both of you are correct. After downloading the Sylvania code, I do see Emerson listed. I am still totally lost on this. Every time I repaste the code into IR, I get the same error message. I'm also concerned that IR see's the AUX button on the GI remote as Audio (that's the one I want to program as ...

Just for the record:
1. I haven't used Notepad or Word to paste anywhere other than the diagnostic section of the forum. Everything was manually entered into KM or copied using KM into IR.
2. I understand that I can't build an upgrade for one remote, and use it in another.
3a and b: correct.
4. I'm ...

OK, here's what I found. In IR, it shows the Power and TV/Vid protocols as Emerson, everything else is NEC1. Any ideas why?

I just realized that this thing is really messed up. My setup code is wrong, the protocol should be NEC1, Main device 135 and sub 34. I'm going to rework the whole thing and try again.

I used the learn function of my 8910 to teach it the DVD commands from the Sylvania DVD/VCR remote, then read those with IR. For KM, I selected remote REM400 b00, device DVD, setup code 2010, button code OBC, protocol name Emerson, and Device1 is 40. I entered all the OBC codes into KM (which now I ...

You are one fast Robman...

I'm not sure what you mean by the code block, but here's what I've got:

Copied from KM

Upgrade Code 0 = 27 BD (DVD/2010)

End

Learned signals from IR

OK, so I'm finally getting back around to programming this remote. I've programmed (thru the learn function) all of the DVD commands into my URC8910, then loaded them from IR to KM. When I go back to IR connected to the General Instruments remote and try to paste the device upgrade, I get the ...

Well it will be a little while before I get back to this, since I've totally forgotten how! I've got the instructions printed (again!) and will be doing some reading....

I don't want to "try" unless I'm sure that's the correct one. I brought the remote home with me (they live out of state). It's already got their TV, VCR commands and cable box programmed into it. I also brought along their DVD/VCR remote, and programmed my URC8910 with it (there was no code listed ...

IR names it General Instruments Cable Remote (just that, no numbers). I haven't used RM yet. I'll download it and see... Thanks.

Programming General Instruments Remote?

I'm trying to configure my parents General Instruments Cable remote. It's got a JP1 connector, and is recognized by IR. However, when I open KM, there's no General Instruments remote listed in the remote drop down menu. Is it possible to program this remote?

Yes. Once I re-read the instructions, it was nothing to customize the remote. The only problem is, I'll probably have to do it all over again as I'm getting rid of it. I hate the donut!!!
