That's disheartening, never thought that could do any harm, thanks for the head's up!

OP Here,

I just researched that LG "Magic" remote pictured, it is a bluetooth remote. There's some reviews that state you don't need to point it at the TV, but maybe it still has IR with a mix of both.

Yes, I still watch TV through the tuner and record OTA shows using MythTV. I don't use streaming ...

Buying an OLED TV, JP1 Remote Considerations

I'm replacing a 15 year old Panasonic plasma, I don't really buy TVs often. I like to have one JP1 remote that controls everything I need.

I've been looking at these for an OLED TV purchase:

LG C3
Samsung S90C
Sony A80K

Usage:
OTA TV 25%
PVR 55%
Streaming 10%
DVD/Bluray 10%

The LG remote has ...

Wow, what a short life this one had.

Shame really, that tinkerer capable products are so niche these days, as society moves towards a perceived "spoon fed" utopia. rant over.

I was going to post about this, on mine, the buttons aren't the best, particularly, the arrow buttons are wiggly and the press is not buttery smooth. But at least they are big, for instance, on the OARUSB04G, the arrow buttons are way too small for my hands. The other buttons just feel cheap. But it ...

@mathdon,

Regarding 71 and 72, when the correct functionality is confirmed, I think the RDF and Map should work like the OARUSB04G where we made 2 squares on the map for each button. I would make the outermost skip and the inner FFWD/REW.

I understand including LKP and SKP in the names, but I ...

Re: New Remote URC-3660

It acts as a MultiMacro Function and successive long presses send successive macros.

Though I've been using JP1 for over 15 years, I've never delved much into macros. If I'm understanding, each device can have a different macro assigned to the same button, I think I get that. But the timed term ...

On my 8910 with the extender installed, there's "functionality" devices defined for things like ToadTog...etc, with the device setup code mapping to the functionality in the text file extender documentation.

When I downloaded from the stock setup on the 3660, these devices were present in RMIR ...

You will need to obtain a separate converter cable. Any sort will do provided it has TTL-level outputs and makes available either RTS or DTR. We normally recommend one with an FTDI chip as the most reliable, but that is not essential.

OK, thanks, I'll play with my FT232RL breakout board once I ...

OK, I bought one too.

I connected to my Arduino the same way I did my URC-8910, and I am getting "No RDF matches signature starting null". When I reconnect my 8910, it works, I've gone back and forth between the 8910 and the onn one a few times, checking the wiring, I can't figure out what I'm ...

On the OAR, the long press was sometimes error prone for me. I've mapped the record and stop to be the skip fwd/bck. Not sure why I'd need record or stop for any of my devices.

The OAR is my favorite remote, small size, ergo, click buttons, and the "native" usb integration to RMIR is great.

I've been trying to follow this thread, I have a URC8910, which I believe is just plain old JP1.

OK, I keep editing this, found an Atmega328P nano in my parts cabinet, my other Atmega168PA one that I was initially working with wasn't working for me.

JP1 pin1 jumped to JP1 pin2
JP1 pin3 -> nano GND ...
