I didn't expect it to be directly portable. What you describe is what I was originally thinking, a few changes to ROM addresses etc. Most of this stuff has been figured out by the extender writers, so I would think it may be pretty simple to port the code over (as long as an extender for the remote ...

I guess it really depends on what kind of JP1 cable you were looking to build. There are parallel port, serial port and USB versions available. If you've "played around" with soldering, you could probably handle building up the "simple" parallel port model as it doesn't require as much soldering ...

Hey, I'm kind of interested in this, but I don't have a 2116/7 remote. So I was wondering how much remote specific stuff you had to use? I mean, would it easily port to other model remotes (ones with extenders ...

Do you have working original remotes for each of the devices in question? If so and you buy a "learning" JP1 remote, it is very likely the answer will be yes. In my time around the forum, I've seen the "experts" help a lot of people with lots of different devices, and I don't recall a time where ...

An LKP macro should work the same as other macros, just as you describe. I'm not entirely sure that the LKP protocol will work without the extender. I can't find it now, but I seem to remember there being some reason that you needed an extender to use LKP. Is there some reason that you don't want to ...

Are you using the latest 5.0x version of IR? If so, the ToadTogs should be decoded in the GUI, making them much easier to understand. I'd recommend taking a look at that first (if you haven't already) since it really makes this type of thing much simpler.
If that doesn't help, I'm sure someone else ...

There is currently no LKP packaged/written for the 2104. I will take a look at making a "b" version of the extender with LKP but I can't promise it over night.
Sorry Nils, but I beg to differ. I have been using the LKP protocol with my 2104 for many months. You can find the necessary information ...

Well, it could always be one of those self-extracting zip files that lets you specify the "unzip to" location. That way, people who don't want to mess with a zip file can just double click and install, but those of us who want to change the location, can do so (either by entering a new "unzip to ...

Re: Much more limited question on using TOADTOG
I think I want those last two to be device specific macros, right? And my head hurts when I try to think about the cascading toadtogs. Any pointers appreciated.
DSMs sound about right for those last two steps, I guess, but multiple nested (cascading) ToadTogs may turn out to be a nightmare for ...

Re: does extender require upgrade for every device?
in other words, are the internally stored setup codes (in the remote memory) still accessible and usable with an extender?
In short, yes. The internally stored codes are held in a seperate memory space and are thus not affected by the installation of an extender. If you are serious about your ...
