Yes you can. I've uploaded a file with the Red, Green, Yellow, Blue and White buttons allocated function codes 001 to 005.

Yes, this remote is (almost) JP1 ready.

I soldered in a 24AA16 EEPROM, a 1uF in C11 and reset the remote via Magic 981. The red LED flashed 4 short flashes showing it had seen the EEPROM.

The signature of the remote is 1BC01BC0 and the bytes that got updated were $000..$011 and $100..$107 :

$000 ...

Using the Macro function of the Sky+ remote

(TV Select+Green w x y z Select)

I've been extracting the codes for each button with the hope of getting a working RDF file.

Only one Macro is available and up to four buttons can be allocated. Any buttons on the remote can be used in the Macro except ...

They sound like 10k.

So I guess I have to actually take a look inside my parallel connector housing, eh? ...and then de-solder and re-solder 2 resistors?

We're heading for brave new territory here, as I have neither the tools nor the skills to do this easily.

Well. it'll wait (at least  ) until ...

OK. Thanks to Mike-C, the three remotes in question (2 Sky+'s and a Sky) have been modified to be JP1 compatible. As you can see from the thread up to this point, Mike has successfully downloaded the EEPROM's from all three, and they are all the same signature. He has returned two of them to me ...

Via the remote control, I can change the TV code (bytes $0C/$0D) but not the Satellite code (bytes $0A/$0B) - I guess it's fixed for Sky only with a value of 0875. There may be an undocumented "setup-lock" function that prevents the setup code for Sat from being changed on the remote. Many of the ...

Cool!

Rob (or anybody who knows how to create an rdf) - how do we/I proceed from here? What do you need done to help create an rdf for these remotes?

Is there a process of trial and error to see if any 9xx commands work, and then try to create some keymoves, etc, to help you sort our mappings ...

Re: All sorted

If I'm able to get hold of one, I'll post a dump from IR.exe

I can confirm that to use a DIL version of the eeprom, requires chopping a bit of the case out from around the JP1 connector apperture. Don't go to any trouble - if you read this thread from the beginning, you'll see that Mike-C is doing ...

Before wiring it all up, don't forget to make sure there's room in the remote control casing to fit a DIP version

Re: Source of 24AA16

I've dug out an old sky remote, which needs a 24AA16.

I've tried the likes of Farnell /CPC RS components, & Maplin, but found no source as of yet.

Where do you get yours from, or is there an equivalent.? (24C16??)

The ones I used were some I had lying about from another project.

As Rob has ...

Do I understand correctly that when pin 3 is tied low, the remote does not communicate with the EEPROM?

No, the missing components stopped the communication with the EEPROM. Pin 3 selects whether the remote control defaults to acting as a standard Sky remote (pin tied low) or Sky+ remote (pin ...

For anyone interested, here is a progress report on how I'm getting on adding JP1 to the Sky remotes that Capn Trips sent me.

All three remotes have the same controller fitted and Mike England's suggested datasheet appears to tie up with the pin outs on the remotes - thanks Mike :D

The one that I ...

Well, as I monitor this discussion, I understand that I am COMPLETELY out of my depth.
