beginnings of JP1 cable to giveaway

I started making a JP1 interface cable and in the middle of the process I discovered that my remotes are JP1.2 so I am giving away the cable I started to build.

It consists of the 6 pin header block, which I made by cutting off a piece of a 40 pin IDE cable, that is epoxy glued to the ribbon cable ...

I have an Atlas DVR/PVR 5-device with the "day" rocker button on the left hand side of the round portion, see the top left unit here .

The 6 pin connector is labelled "JP1.2" so from all that I have read I can do none of the JP1 programming yet. I was in the middle of building my simple JP1 cable ...

Atlas DVR/PVR 5-dev, entering discrete codes on the remote

I have an Atlas DVR/PVR 5-device with the "day" rocker button on the left hand side of the round portion, see the top left unit here .

How do I program discrete codes for this remote control? I followed some instructions of how to program discrete codes for power on and power off but they did not ...
