Well that did not work either. I give. I have a new 8910 on the way. Maybe the Robman can have this one and see what he can find. Thanks again to all for the help.

Great! I no longer get the mem fault when I plug the interface in. However the remote is still dead when I disconnect it. I am going to try to trace out which wires go where on JP1 and try the jumpers to the batteries to see if it will power up.
Thanks again.

The Robman wrote: Do as Jason described and load the memory dump from the URC-9800 back into the URC-8780 and see where that gets you.
Ok. I am going to try that just as soon as I figure out how.
Thanks

Thanks to everfyone for all the help. Do you mean a jumper from the battery terminals to JP1 pins to feed power in to simulate having it connected to the computer, or are you saying to the pins on the IC?

Robman
I have tried it with my Xantech IR repeater system in my home that flashes when it picks up any IR and it is not transmitting. I think it may be dead. I think it is good for parts however. This remote was never used.

I have thought of that as well. I powered it up with out the keypad and it did the same thing. Is there a different reset procedure for this remote.

The LED blinks every time I put the batteries back in. It does not light at all when I hold the setup button. I have held it for awhile and release then entered 981 and I have entered 981 while holding the setup button. I am thinking it may be FUBAR.

When I push and hold the setup button nothing happens. I have had it apart and the board and all the traces look fine. I took your advice and shorted the contacts on the setup with the keypad off with no luck.
thanks for the help!

To perform this reset do you just hold the setup key and enter 981. When I hold the setup key the led does not blink but I did try to enter 981 with no results.

When I put batteries in it the LED blinks twice then all is dead no lcd or anything. I got this remote ...
