I am using IR.exe on my laptop, and it won't work my remote unless I remove one of the batteries and flip it around. Even then, it takes 2 or 3 times to get it to work.

If you don't want the hassles, you need to not use the simple interface, you need to use the advanced interface, or the USB ...

Re: rf converter

for anyone looking to solve a similar situation check out this product http://www.onecall.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=30097 , it essentially adds rf transmission to your ir remote.

Interesting. So, the battery is the transmitter? So, what happens when the battery dies? You have to order to new one ...

Re: Battery arrangements

Have you been able to download stuff from the 2116 remote with your battery arrangement (3 inserted properly, one reversed)?

Yes, I was able to download with that config. However, I never really needed to download, as I was moving from a 1994 to a 2116/2117 so I pretty much started from scratch ...

Ed, I received your 1995 with the 2117 guts today, put the 2117 guts in my 2116, uploaded my setup from IR, and everything works great! I can now control my stuff from downstairs! Thanks again...

I only wish it had more buttons!

That's the point of going the extender route. You can make any of the buttons on the remote do anything you want. In fact, if you use the Long Press / Double Press protocols in the extender, you can make the buttons do one thing if you press them and let go, and ...

I have a 15-2116 and a Thinkpad T43p as well. Years ago, I had a 15-1994 and stumbled upon this site and built the original parallel interface. It worked great with my desktop for many years. Recently, my kids broke the battery cover on the 1994, and the Power button stopped working. So, I used that ...

Try searching the internet for a Leapfrog IR remote extender LF-IRX. It should be in your price range.

Much better. That would be what I am looking for. However, I think I'm going to go the 15-2117 or URC-9910 route, as then I won't have to have an IR receiver sitting downstairs somewhere in ...

So, I would use the 2117 extender instead of the 1995 one? But, don't they have different buttons?

That might be the way I need to go. I started out with a 15-1994 a long time ago, and then moved up to a 15-2116. My family is really used to the feel and layout of that line of remote, so it might be a tough switch. However, I cannot find a 15-2117 (RF version of the 15-2116) anywhere, an dthe URC ...

Yikes! This is the JP1 forum here. We're playing around with $20 remotes. If I wanted to spend that kind of money, I would have gotten a Harmony or Pronto or something! Is it really that expensive to repeat an IR signal? Maybe I am better off switching my 15-2116 for a 15-2117!

IR repeater help

My main TV and all my components and my JP1'd 15-2116 are all in a loft area in my house. We recently got a projector, and we tried it out down stairs on a big, blank wall (had to take a big painting down temporarily). We love it! Image was 1080i from my Dish ViP622, and about 100". Amazing ...
