Thanks anyway... solved my own problem. Using run as administrator allows IR to launch without error messages. Problem with setting RDF path was me! In the File>Set Directory>RDF path... dialog, I didn't properly select the RDF directory by double clicking, I only highlighted it with a single click ...

IR 7.11 and Vista new install... Cannot set RDF path

I've searched and can't find an answer for this. I'm trying to set up IR 7.11 on a new clean install of Windows Vista. I'm getting errors. First, when I run ir.exe normally, I get error: Failed to set data for ". After clearing error msg IR launches. If I run IR as an administrator, it launches ...

Try searching the internet for a Leapfrog IR remote extender LF-IRX. It should be in your price range.

I use the "table" function of Microsoft Word to create a small label that matches the key pattern at the bottom of the remote. I then print the table on standard paper, cut it out, and attach below the buttons using regular old scotch magic tape. This is very flexible. Since I use device specific ...

I set mine up so a regular short key press of a device button initiates a macro to power on devices, select inputs, and leave remote in proper mode for the particular device. This is simple for wife and others. I then use a SET + device key if necessary to switch the remote to control a device ...

Looks like it works just fine. I will continue to test the device upgrade by using it for a while. I edited the Directv section of my RM protocols.ini by adding the new protocol info you supplied. Then I built the device upgrade selecting the URC-10820 and the Directv protocol. Copied both the ...

John. Thanks for looking into this. I'm a patient man so you don't need to hurry on my account. You, no doubt, have plenty of other things to keep you occupied. I expect many could benefit from addition of Directv protocol support to RM. I know I would.

Directv Protocol for URC-10820

I would like to build a device upgrade for my Directv HR20 HD DVR to be used on a URC-10820 JP1.2 remote. The Directv protocol (PID 01 62) is not currently supported for JP1.2 remotes in either KM or RM. Can I create the requred protocol update myself and, if so, how?

The "30s slip (jump to end)" code functions like the "advance" key on the original remote. That is, a short key press skips (slips) ahead 30 seconds in a recorded program. A long key press (about 2 seconds) jumps to the end of a recorded program.
