Graham, many thanks for the information.

To prove that assumptions are always dangerous, I had assumed that the absence of the "JP1 USB..." option in the RMIR Remote|Interfaces menu was a manifestation of the jp1usb library error and the cause of my problem.

The URC-6440 is a SimpleSet remote with ...

Linux error: Failed to load libjp1usb.so

I'm trying to program a SimpleSet URC-6440 via its USB port.

On Linux I get an error - "rmaster.err:LibraryLoader: Failed to load 'jp1usb' from '/home/xxxxx/RemoteMasterv210b9/Linux-amd64/libjp1usb.so".

Indeed that file does not exist. Is it available anywhere?

If I run RMIR in a Windows 10 ...

I already have a parallel cable, my JP1.x serial cable is not working with old JP1 remotes.

And you have pointed me in the right direction - sudo!

$ sudo java -jar RemoteMaster.jar -ir

Not sure why I didn't think of that in the first place.

This works fine with a parallel address of D010.

Not ...

JP1 on modern PC with Linux - working solution

Firstly, a big thanks to all who keep this forum going and updated to the latest and greatest. I'm guilty of dropping in and out as I do a tech refresh and then forget about things for a couple of years until the next time :(

In case it helps someone else, here are my catchup experiences that got ...

OK to resolve my own problem, at least with the Nokia Quad protocol version - the problem was that I had not specified the protocol device parameters (device 1 = 13, device 2= 64)

I'm still not sure why the OFA supplied 167 protocol kills the dreambox remote.

Some more info, this is somehow associated with the DBOX2 remote upgrade and its protocol.

As the 176 protocol is not known in KM or RM, I created an rdmu based entirely on the Nokia Quad protocol - but still get exactly the same problem.

I've uploaded this new rdmu as https://www.hifi-remote.com ...

Losing Select/OK mapping on first device

Hi

I have (among others!) a dreambox v3 jp1 remote on which I wish to have 3 upgrades - this is fine as the remote supports 4 devices.

Which ever upgrade I map to the first device (labeled "dream" in the rdf), I loose the mapping to the OK button. Everything else works fine and I can map the ...

Yes that works

Many thanks to everyone.

Is this a little known protocol? It is available as a download from the OFA site, I think I got it over the phone through the modem capability. Also in the file from jp1-de.

This remote is, I think, the most common in the major German cable and sat ...

Interpreting learned codes to an upgrade code

I can successfully use http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1-de/files/Testdateien/dBox2_urc9910.txt in an OFA 7560 and a dreambox (Uei Omega) remote.

However the vital lame/exit code is missing from the upgrade.

So I learn the code in the 7560 and get:
