I think if you want to use a JP1 remote as a learning remote, there are much better choices.

IMO JP1 remotes should be used with device upgrades and extenders for maximum configurability.

Assuming you are using device upgrades, the memory is really not apples to apples. Device upgrades for JP1 ...

Also if you are using RM versions prior to 1.80 there was a bug in protocols.ini where the unit code was not being processed correctly (in some of the TiVo and ReplayTV protocols)

Just to get some obvious questions out of the way, you did program your DTiVo's to respond to the different unit codes first, right?

Assuming you had unit codes working with handheld remotes before you started with the slingbox .bin files, have you tried the remote unit codes that are builtin to ...

Have you looked at the parallel port settings in IR?

For example have you configured the IO port for the parallel port to match yours?

The remote's LCDs are supposed to light up for about 3 seconds, just like you experience.

Do you emboss or silkscreen or etch something to differentiate between the two types?
Not yet. The JP1X is slightly larger (about 1/16" thicker and 1/8" longer), so I haven't had a problem mixing them up. But I'll think about it.
does this JP1.x interface work directly w/ JP1.3 remotes, or does ...

I was happy with my diygadget.com USB JP1 cable. They shipped promptly and communication was good. I would just go with them.

I don't believe the extender changes which buttons can be in a particular device type (CBL, VCR, TV, etc.) button mapping. It does allow assignment to buttons which would otherwise not be assignable under the base remote functionality, but that is using keymoves or macros.

I guess I didn't ever notice that in any of the read me files. I'm getting close to 15 right now, so I'll have to watch that.
Given what you wrote in the first post is your macro, I don't think you are running into any limits, but here is the section in the readme that describes limitation on ...

Pressing "My System" again turns the Kenwood off, as it is only a power toggle device. It does not have a discrete on/off.

And, I know the macro is getting to the DEV_AUD;FFWD, as I have tried putting in commands after it (like DEV_SAT;Info as explained in my initial post), and they work fine ...

I have a similar issue with my Onkyo receiver. While off, I would execute a macro that:
- turns the receiver on
- switches it's input
- switches the input for the tv
- and various other things.

Switching the receiver's input worked perfectly with the receiver already on. If it was off, then the ...

What happens when you press MySystem a second time after it initially did not work, does it switch the Kenwood then?

If it doesn't switch for warm usage, try getting rid of the DEV_CD; Freeze

I know you need it to work properly from cold start, but let's see if something is defined incorrectly and ...

Ok... I'm not really asking where the anykey is... but something almost as stupid. Where is the shift key?
The shift key is anykey, you define the button keycode in IR :)
