Thank you sir. Superb response. "Pads in the EEPROM column apparently means pads to which you solder a BYO chip.

Rob, you provide a great service to the amateur electrical engineer in all of us.

Pads?

I have a 6131M and cable, communication is up, found a 6412 Keymap file and am very optimistic about this weekend.

I have another retail 6131. The remote table on filebug.jp1.com

http://jp1.filebug.com/remchart.htm

lists pads under the holes. Does this mean the male pin adapter that came with Rob ...

Is there a Pin #1 indicator on the cable's 6 pin connector? (like that little V cut into one side? Most importantly if I guess wrong can I damage my remote?

I bought a 6131M for it's TIVO ability and JP1 cable a couple of years ago. Once I understood the 6131 I was able to accomplish what I wanted ...

OFA Upgradeable 6131M

I am getting a 6131M and just reading up while waiting. The OFA site lists Upgradeable Technology first on the list of features. WoW must be important selling point. Of course upgradeable does not turn up in a word search of the manual, not anywhere on the site.

Is it just me being dense, or is ...

Thanks Greg. Wasn't obvious to me that so few of the remotes support the PVR keys. I looked at the ir converter for x10 and that looks like a winner. IR is line of sight though where rf could be in a separate room. But both are the right price point for playing around and have the functionality I ...

What's the perfect remote....for me?

I am willing to learn and load JP1 jack codes. I want to control the following: tv, toshiba dvd/vcr combo, tivo series 2, GI dct digital cable box (comcast of course), AND X10 controls. The X10 probably means an RF transmitter to an X10 base. I would like to get it from a source that ships cables as ...
