Of remotes currently available specifically tailored for PVR use, the OFA URC-6131 (and it's internal clone 6131n) seem to be the JP1 remote of choice.

The down side is they are not JP1-ready out of the box.

I am pretty handy with the smoldering iron... so if i got one of these, what would ...

What new remotes are JP1??

I recently changed my cable box to a PVR from Scientific Atlanta...
The remote is really good, but it is missing things.

So my question is: what remotes in Canada and USA have PVR functions and control for at least 4 components (5+ best), and is JP1 ready or modifyable???
If there are no retail ...

device upgrade??

I am trying to do a device upgrade on this remote...
Using RM I loaded an existing upgrade (Sony_HT-DDW840_Simple.txt -- under home theater or amps in tools). I then change the remote to mine and everything is ok.. All the buttons that I want are assigned fine..
I then copy the output and go to IR ...

I have been working with one of the gurus here on getting that RDF ready.

so far I have not had any issues with communicating with the remote. It should work with the batteries in. I am also using the simple interface. I cannot remember right now which diode I am using or the resistance values ...

First thing I noticed about your power macro..
you dont really need to have a macro for that....
under the general tab, under "other settings" you can select which devices will be turned on/off with the power button. If you select all of them then when you hit the power button it will turn ...

What you are describing seems to indicate that no commands are assigned to those buttons in the non-cable devices, which would I would consider normal for the A, B & C buttons and the enter key. You would have to load an upgrade that has the buttons assigned to functions to test if they work. For ...

my experimentation to date has shown me that there are some buttons that are only enabled or usable in cable mode. These include the a b c # and * keys, along with a couple others. This goes for the select key as well.
I dont know if there is a way to free these buttons up using IR (eventually) or ...

I believe I know what is happening with this remote.
This remote controls an SA PVR, a dual tuner PVR.
I have read else where that typically the second tuner in the PVR responds to RF signals and the main tuner will respond to IR. So it is a combo remote.

On all my IR files I have the same data at offset $0300 ($41, $51) (ASCII A P)... does this mean anything? If i open ir and select the RDF this is not included in the raw data...
and what about my previous question which is quoted here? I don't think those bytes are significant. They're probably ...
