On your list the following have discrete power commands:
Toshiba TV CX36H60
Just noticed the above quote. I thought my TV could only toggle power? Did you mistype, or can I get discreets for the TV somewhere?

thanks very much Jon! this is just the type of info I needed. I hope to have a chance to work on the remote this weekend, at which time I'll probably have a few questions for you once I can digest your whole post.

Thanks Jon.

why don't you explain why you are looking for a power toggle. Most of us create a macro that turns on all the relevant equipment and sets all the AV inputs to the correct settings depending on what we are doing like watch TV, or a DVD, watch the PVR, etc. Those only work well when you ...

1) Thanks!

2) I just did, see http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4066

3A) I guess I'm the one that was confused. I am using discretes for everything except the TV, which is why I have the seperate buttons for On and Off. So, I described it wrong, but I still have the same issue -- I ...

need codes for Harman Kardon HK 525

I currently can control most of my stereo EXCEPT I need to be able to set it to the right surround sound setting (DTS NEO6) when I switch to other devices. For some reason, it used to work perfectly but now it has stopped. However, I never had a discrete code for this so I have no idea why it worked ...

I did pretty well on my first run through with JP1 about 2yrs ago, but I'm pretty lost now that I'm trying to do it again. Here's 3 of my current issues:

1) Is there somewhere I can tell exactly what I did to this remote before? Did I extend it, upgrade it etc...how can I tell? Also, I think I did ...

is that always the case?

I don't mind getting that box, but do I need it? My X10 stuff is run off this:

http://www.homeautomationnet.com/shoppi ... asp?id=103

Which recieves RF signals to control my X10 stuff. So, if my JP1 remote already sends RF signals I should be good to go, shouldn't I?

HTPro can send RF, does that mean it can run my lights?

I use x10 stuff all over the place and that remote runs on RF too, so I should be able to run my lights using the HTPro right?

I plan to try it tonight jus thought I'd see what you guys thought first. Thanks!

just wanted to give an update. I got my HTPro yesterday and it is 8910/9910 compatible. Opened the package, plugged into my PC, downloaded the codes, and was off and running in 2 minutes!

Also, I couldn't be more thrilled that I now have real buttons instead of the old donut, it feels like to ...

thanks Greg! I just placed my order for the HT.

BTW -- great thread on this, I almost didn't bother to post my original question at all because I didn't think it was worth it, but it looks like I'm going to be much better off now that I did.

Thanks!

I'm glad you guys like the HT Pro, but could someone answer my question about using the exact same JP1 set up I use on my 8910?

That would make this a no brainer for me since I can then have two identical remotes running. If that is not possible, I might as well just stick with the new 8810 I was ...

personally think the 8810 is the best JP1 remote

Thanks, that is pretty much how I see it too. I like the LCD on my 8910, but the truth is that it is pretty much unnecessary.

you might consider the UEI HT-Pro Plus

hmmm... does that IR/RF center on the HT-pro remote mean I don't have to point ...

any reason NOT to use the OFA 8810?

I bought the 8810 about a year ago and was just about to use JP1 to set it up, but before I bother is there anything better for under $100?

I have the 8910 now and was switching to get rid of the plastic doughnut, but I've learned to love a good remote more than before so I'm willing to spend a ...
