After reading you reply, I went over the entire remote thoroughly and found a button that was stuck but was very hard to tell. There was some schmootz stuck in beside one of the volume buttons ;)

Thanks for the great info, as always!!!

Any way to use the Scene It IR Receiver in Windows with URC?

I know this is a 'way out there' question, but I'm looking for a way to use my Universal Remote and the IR Receiver that comes with the xbox 360 game, Scene It, so that I can control Windows Vista Media Center.

Has anybody tried hacking around with this thing?

I will try disabling the extender and see if I can learn the missing codes. The only code I really want but don't have is the 'e.mode' (entertainment mode) code but it would be even better if there were discrete codes for the 3 entertainment modes. But I don't have my hopes up for that ;)

Thanks ...

I assume this is the file that you're using for the LG:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=3123

If the TV is un-responsive sometimes to the signal, maybe we need to amp up the "duty cycle" from 33% to 50% or more. This device uses the NEC1 protocol, but you wouldn't ...

I forget the details of how device numbers work in the XBOX 360, but I'm sure you can find that in some post, figure it out, or test it.

Ok, I think I have enough info to test it out..thanks for the info and links!

About your LG. I am not sure what codes you are talking about. The only code I ...

Yeah, it sounds like TOAD...but that would still be ok since I would almost never be turning off my console with the front panel button.

This thread looks promising:

So far so good!

I'm back in the game thanks to your help. I have the new TV working marvellously as well as complete control over my Xbox 360 and even when using it in Media Center mode. Life is good :D

The only thing I'm missing is discrete power on/off codes for the Xbox 360...can't seem to find ...

Does this sound right?

Load up the XB360 .rmdu file into Remote Master and set up the keys and then copy both the device and protocol sections into IR?

Been gone too long - need to add XB360 remote functionality

Man, it feels like years since I've been here.

Anyway, I have long since lost all of the applications I used to use to hack my remote and now it just looks all foreign.

I installed IR and managed to at least download my setup from my remote...so at least I have a backup.

I would love to add Xbox ...

Actually..that worked pretty well! I can use my OneForAll with Windows MCE and my Hauppage's IR port.

The key maps are not exactly what I would like, but I can learn from that and probably play with it and get the keys more to my liking.

Great find!

That's what I thought..I HAVE to buy the MCE receiver :(

Oh well.

I was hoping that by running Media Portal I might be able to use the built in IR receiver, but no luck SO far.

I did find the SHSPVR forum and I have been trying to drudge through it.

Thanks for the info!
