upgrade and mapping issues with urc 10820

Hi Folks,

I used to have a URC 8811 with the old JP1 interface working fine. I have 3 upgrades to devices.

I recently bought the URC 10820 with the JP1 1.x serial cable and am communicating with the remote without issue.

The problem is that after I cut and paste the new code from RM to add a ...

It turns out my user didn't have access to the /dev/tty[0123] ports so a simple sudo worked fine.

FYI, I am using the JP1.x serial cable...so I can confirm that it works well (for me anyway) under FC7 dist of linux.

Thanks for your help.

RM and IR in Linux

Hello,

I was pleased to see the thread that IR is being developed as part of RM. For linux users this is great...it means we don't have to install wine. So the -ir switch will run the java port of IR in Linux but has anyone got this to communicate with their remotes in Linux? What do I put in the ...

Cool. Fine with me, the new cable is on the way.

One last question, why the heck can't I find the urc-10820 rdf in my updated list? Are we not using rdf's anymore either?

So I build my own (http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3585) or buy one huh?

Is it backward compatible? Can I use the JP1.2 cabel for my urc-8811?

JP1 all over again!

Hello,

So I've JP1'ed a few years ago for my URC-8811. It worked great but the envitable has happened, my remote changed it's last channel and has commanded its last dvd. So I went out to buy the URC-10820, thinking that it would be as simple as getting the latest rdf's and whipping out my home ...

Mathboy, can you try that Sungale upgrade

John, the Sungale upgrade is very close. All the buttons are mapped properly with the exception of: select, pause, prev track, next track, stop and menu.

Does that mean you tested and Right Arrow actually was OBC 64 on the Accura DVD?

Yes it worked ...

John,

Do any of your code sets match the following OBC numbers (for NEC1 DEV 0)?

up arrow = 06
down arrow = 68
left arrow = 71

...if so, can you provide me with the right arrow? If not, I'll go ahead with Rob's sugestion and try all 255.

I think you should create two or three upgrades that between them cover all the OBC numbers from 0 to 95; upload to three device buttons of your remote and test each one to find out what it does.
Sweet, I will do that and post my polished upgrade to the files section.

Making some head way...

The Citizen upgrade allowed me to figure out that I need to use the NEC1 protocol with device number 0. Here are the only useful buttons I could figure out...

rewind = EFC 167
prev. track = EFC 247
menu = EFC 230

Is this enough information for one of you guru's to build on ...
