The only things that I have that will help you are what i've already detailed above.

In theory if you follow my instructions, which should be 'none technical', for your model of remote control; then you will end up creating a WAV file; which you can play on your PC, and get your remote-control to ...

1. Device: Philips MX5700D DVD player
2. Type of device: DVD Player (5 disc)
3. JP1 Remote model: URC 9960
4. JP1 user? Yes
5. Still have original remote? Yes
6. Checked Yahoo file section? Yes
7. Checked Pronto file section? Yes

On the back of the original remote battery cover it reads thus ...

LMAO, believe me, if it were 'in the manual' ... i'd not have asked such a basic question obviously when I do get my hands on the JP1 cable all of this is irrelevant anyhow.

One more silly question .... how do you get the URC-9960 to upgrade from a WAV file ? what setup buttons do I need to press??

robman - I've actually found one on eBay, and purchased it, so as soon as it comes through, I can do a proper backup of my remote, and start messing!!

Trying to pair up my new Kameleon URC9960 with my Sky+ satellite box (Sky+ is a satellite PVR over here in the UK) -- Apparently I need to program in the code 1175, but my Kameleon doesn't recognise that code.
