Replacing older JP1 Remotes - Newer options?
The three URC8910s I've been using for years are getting tired and falling apart. New 8910s are impossible to find. What, if any, are the currently produced and available JP1 remotes that would offer similar functionality? Ideally, reworking my RMDU and IR files should be a relatively painless ...

Disappearing Device Number and Sub Device in Remote Master
I'm trying to create an upgrade file for a satellite dish position control box by copying learned data into RM from IR.
NEC1
Device 0
Sub Device 95
All the function data is in correctly but any time I try to enter the device or Sub Device numbers, they disappear when I do a file save.
Any help ...

JP1 on USB vs. LPT
Up until recently, I've been doing my JP1 work on a laptop with a fully implemented parallel port. You know, a printer port, like the ancient people used to use :-). Anyway, my new laptop doesn't have an LPT port. Instead of buying a USB-JP1 cable I figured I'd get a USB to printer port cable and ...

Thanks Rob, will look into that for local control. My interest in using the PC for control still remains though. I have my PC set up with VNC such that I can log in and control it from anywhere. It's great for setting up my OTA and satellite tuner cards while having lunch at the office or traveling ...

The one limitation is that you're limited by the capabilities of the remote. Having the complete protocol and upgrade files on a PC means the ability to fully emulate a given remote with virtually unlimited macros etc. If this is for home use (moving your Sat dish, scheduling VCR recorder, powering ...

For hardware guys who don't like too much software, what about a rather retro idea: Output from PC to an array of switches (either virtual, electronic, relays, STAMP chip, whatever). Hardwire said array grid-fashion into the contact pads (or any convenient part connected to each pad) of your chosen ...

For me anyway, the gui is a secondary issue. What I would want to do is, assuming a commandline interface, write batch files for sequences of IR button pushes to, say, move my satellite dish from one bird to another at a certain time via windows scheduler.

Sorry, posted this from an old screen before seeing the previous post. My
question below would, from a user perspective, seem like the cleanest way to go but obviously there are other considerations. I may for the time being simply use some apps I am finding which just memorize LED blink sequences ...

How soon do you need this to be up and running? If you can wait a while, as John mentioned earlier, there's a good chance that once JP1.2 remotes are fully supported by our JP1 software and hardware, we might have the ability to control the remote from the PC, so your JP1.2 remote would, in effect ...

Having PC drive an IR emitter based on JP1 upgrade data?
I would like to control various IR devices using an emitter connected to my PC. Is there software which would allow me to generate IR with a PC using data from JP1 upgrade files?
If not, I see lots of home brew and commercially made IR transceivers for the PC with learn/emit software. Anyone have ...
