Thanks that is what I wanted. I haven't made any changes (yet), I will see how I go with those.

should have mentioned my remote is a URC - 7140, and the devices are:

TV - 1458 - Samsung TV LE26B450 C4W XXU
STB - 1060 - Virgin media tivo
DVD - 0490 - Panasonic dmr E45V

I connected my remote to the computer, fired up RMIR, and had a look at what it does.

I can't see a lot. It tells me setup codes, but I can't find a picture of the remote or a list of keys and what they are mapped to. Presumably this is because this isn't information the program can read from the ...
