HD Tivo owners.... are you using 0618?

Hi, I was reading about a problem one person was experiencing with his HD-Tivo being slow to respond to his JP-1 remote...

However, they never mentioned which codes they were starting with...

I was wondering are you folks with HD Tivo's using the 0618 code in your JP1 remote?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,
Do you still have the original Panasonic remote? If so, why don't you send it to me so I can capture the codes for all the buttons and totally eliminate all the guesswork. Do you still have my address?

Nope, I used PP so I never had the address... you can email it to me and I will drop the ...

DVD Mode: VCR/1162 does transport. What about others functions? Menu,

In the VCR/1162 mode the Menu button activates the TV's Menu.

If I am following your direction correctly it looks like you are suggesting to move as many functions as can be found to a single (vcr) key. So that I will ...

You haven't found any buttons that change channels? Even in VCR/1162? What about the VCR CH+/- buttons when the unit is in TV mode?

In the VCR/1162 mode, the numbers 1-10 will select a channel (on the TV that is not the built in VCR)... say 08 will select channel 8.

If you push the channel up ...

You can't assign a function that sends an IR signal to a device button (which CATV is). You'll have to use a different button in VCR mode, maybe Jump?

Bummer!

We already know that TV/0250 controls some TV functions. Is it just volume?
Are there buttons in either TV/0250 or VCR/1162 that change ...

A quick summary this thread:

According to bwade_913 ,
once the unit has been put in DVD mode, the transport keys from VCR/1162 control the DVD. Have you tried this and verified it? Manually put the unit in DVD mode, then with your remote in VCR mode, try the transport keys. What happens?

Okay I ...

OK, basic mis-understanding of how these remotes work. You cannot program a keymove to a device button, the sole purpose of those buttons is to select a device mode. You program keymoves to regular buttons.

Okay..........

So the question is....... How do I program my Black ReplayTV remote to ...

Upload your saved IR file to the Diagnosis Area , then come back here and post a link to it.

Then we can take a look at it and see if you've actually created the keymove correctly.

Greg here is a link to the Replay remote file

Okay so I tried this technique using the JP1 cable on the Black ReplayTV remote.
I followed each step and at the end when I uploaded the file back to the Replay remote I got two flashes.

However, when I try using the remote on the TV ... the VCR button will still allow me to turn on the Tv and ...

Rob, it is not a matter of being unwilling to follow your intructions... I tried them, but was unsuccessful getting anything to work... then I went back to re-read the instructions and they seem to be based around this 0490 code , which I have tried several times and know it does not work.

As I am ...

I mentioned that the DVD/0490 setup code was a match to the 176.0 learned signals in my 24 Nov 2004 08:38 am post (at the top of this page).

The first problem with this is..........

The DVD/0490 code does not operate the DVD on this Combo unit.

If you put the 1162 code into the VCR, with the ...

Okay I used the URC-8811 remote I purchased from Rob to Learn the DVD button from the TV's remote... I can read it in the learned functions list of IR. It shows up as Panasonic Device 176, sub device 0, OBC 255, Hex Command 00, EFC 018.
You could use a keymove with the DVD/0490 setup code to ...
