Crisis averted...

Found this on another thread from mathdon :)

"Remove the batteries from the remote, connect the remote to the PC and THEN replace the batteries. It will now show as an external drive. Then copy a valid settings.bin file to the remote before disconnecting it from the PC . As far ...

URC 6440 - not responding at all after failed upload [FIXED]

Hi all

I've got the above remote setup with the extender and lots of fancy macros :) Thanks again to everyone a few years ago who eventually got me there...!

I was just making some minor changes in RMIR and uploading to the remote, but the cable got disconnected during the upload. So I uploaded ...

Ok thanks, I'm not sure I'm ready to be a helper but I'll contribute to threads in the beginners section where I can :)

I'm not at all the type of person just to take, take, take and I know I've had a lot of support and peoples' time on this forum. I'd be more than happy to contribute back, it just doesn't seem like this is a useful contribution.

Right, I've written two device upgrades so far...

I'm really sorry and I massively appreciate all the help you've given me but I don't know if spending time double checking OBC codes for a well documented make is going to be much of a contribution?

The discrete on/off codes are the same for all ...

Rob, I started trying to make a device upgrade using the master file, but I don't understand how to test every code without manually assigning (most of) them to a shift button or another device? Then testing each one, noting them down and then coming back to update the master file or edit each entry ...

Hi Rob,

I've setup the ToadTog for the inputs on the left and right buttons themselves. I like to be able to use those buttons to select the input as well, and this way the ToadTog recognises if I'm using them. If it ever gets out of sync, I'll use the shifted buttons to correct it. It's working ...

Ah ok, I didn't realise. Maybe a question that could be asked is how many people actually use all the phantom buttons. With the URC 6440 extender, there are 15 and I have used 10, however 2 of these are for DiscreteOn and DiscreteOff. If very few people ever use all 15 (or however many the other ...

Thanks, that all makes sense. Sorry that you have to keep quoting the manual to me.

In case you ever plan on updating the extender, I hope you don't mind a suggestion - Maybe the user could be given the ability to disable the current use of the power button in combo mode. With people using discrete ...

What have I started here

The only issue that I had was because I am a novice to JP1, I did not know how to rename the phantom buttons. Since phantom buttons are only introduced with the installation of an extender, perhaps instructions to rename them can be included in the extender manuals ...

One last issue and my remote is finished (for now!)

I've set up a global "All off" LKP on the power button, shown below

I've tested it on the 0 button for every device and in both the WatchTV and WatchMovie activity ...
