if the electrical contacts have worn off the back of the rubber buttons, they actually sell repair kits that you can use to re-coat them with conductive material...i found a wiki howto here:

I'm trying to get rmir working under 64bit linux but it seems all the upload/download functions are disabled. I looked into it a bit further and it seems the .so files are all compiled for 32bit. Is the source for these files available anywhere so I can compile this myself or at least 64bit versions ...

I think i know what's going on here, as I actually have noticed this same thing. Some of the new comcast remotes have the enter button programmed as "HD Zoom" which does nothing. The older remotes used enter to perform enter/music, which actually does do something.. I don't remember the OFC's for ...
