I find Acoustic Research cables the best alternatives to Mon$ter Cable. They are twice as cheap but great quality. Bestbuy and CircuitCity sells them. AR cables are gear toward the mass consumers. Other mass consumer cables are RadioShack cables. Good quality, reasonable price.

As a note, I don't have this problem with the RS 15-2104

The Dish PVR508 has a double byte command. It appears the 6131 doesn't send both bytes at one key press. I have to press the key twice or press and hold a little in order for it to complete the command.

Any suggestions?

I'm using IR503 and I have taken advantage of the Special Protocol Builder (A great feature BTW). I think I kind of understand what the author did with the 4 way Toadtog but not exactly sure how or why it worked. I can't seem to find much information / documentations on multi-toadtog.

I want to do speaker A/B switching.
The 4 states are

1: A
2: AB
3: B
4: None

So in doing my research I found this example: 6131_1-7.zip

I'm thinking about creating some kind of custom label for my remote. Let say on my RS 15-2104 I want to use the 1s button as a dedicated "OFF" button for all components. So naturally I want to label it "OFF".

The IR LEDs are already pushed pretty hard to current levels beyond their steady-state ratings because the designers assumed pulsed operation with much less than 50% duty factor.

What's a more powerful IR-LED and where to get it? Has anyone else done this?

Or if we know the specs for the IR-LED to one of the proven remotes we can then use that criteria to search for new IR-LEDs from Digikey or other electronic stores.

Just a thought here. But how about programming service for those remotes as well. What I mean is for people to list their equipments by brand etc and you program them and ship them. Off-course you're going to charge labor and such but its still a much better deal than buying the Harmony ...
