I've been hanging around here for a long time myself. To echo the comments of others, I really enjoy looking in almost every day and will miss the site, and the people who come here, a lot if it goes away.

Thanks to Rob for keeping things going for all these years.

I'm just following along for fun here, but if you have a learning remote, wouldn't you just learn the code for that button? Or am I missing something?

Sorry to intrude...

Thank you all for your good wishes, they were much appreciated. My recovery is going well, and though I am not fully back to normal, I am starting to think again about RMIR. I can't promise yet to respond to issues as quickly as I have in the past, but I am at least getting back in touch now with ...

Thanks for the advice.

One more question :

Can you allocate key combinations, e.g. alt-F4?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't allocate mouse presses, but there's a way around that from the computer settings (i.e. Mouse keys).

I have been having a lot of fun using KDE-connect on an old ...

I've been using a FLIRC to control OSMC (Kodi) running on a Raspberry Pi for several years. It works very well for me. I'm currently using the Samsung 5500 series Smart TV upgrade from right here on this site. That upgrade uses the NECx2 protocol.

I personally hate the 7880, but it's been a supported JP1 remote for years. I still have one in my closet somewhere.

Forgive the intrusion, but isn't the 7880 one of the relatively recent remotes with the Bluetooth upload/download capability (there are a couple others). If so, it is still ...

Apologies in advance if this is off-topic. I use Kodi all the time. It is integrated into my AV setup in my living room. I have it running on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ and I use FLIRC to translate IR signals from any remote to Kodi keyboard commands for all Kodi functions. The FLIRC consumes a USB port on ...

Not sure about Comcast, but I control all my Rokus by IP. It's pretty great since you can launch any app directly. So I have a screen full of icons for the apps I use the most.

I've wondered about using my cell phone to control my Roku TV, but I've never tried it. My main TV is connected to a ...

The 3660 only has volume punch thru so you do have an advantage with 7880's
transport and channel punch thru. Thank you It gave me food for thought
Glad I could help! Thanks for the feedback.

Ed
I am interested in seeing how you did things.
Could you please upload your RMIR of your current setup to the diagnosis section and post a link here.
It may help others on different ways to set things up

Thanks

Randy

Re: power button

Ed, you're totally right, the behaviour is the same as you describe. In activity mode a short press on the power key doesn't do anything. And I can't program a macro on it that works in activity mode.

My "fix" for the power button problem was to simply not use activity mode, and to put macros on ...

Re: power button

Thank you for the answers.

I have most of the things working now, but there is one thing that bothers me.
I can't find out how to get the power button working in activity mode. When I press the power button in this mode, nothing is happening. First I need to presse the TV (or STB) button and then ...

I've gotten used to the long press to access the missing transport buttons on the OAR. I don't like that the buttons are missing, but I still like the remote overall.
