As a last thing to check before I went out the door, I looked into your suggestion that "the Setup code lock is turned on for every device in the main window of RMIR".

Sure enough, all setup code locks are set to ON. This would tend to explain what is happening. I had never thought about or taken ...

Thanks for your suggestions.

The elderly user I'm trying to help can actually see quite well. I was working with the URC-2025 because that's what his cable company supplies.

As I studied and came to understand what his equipment was capable of and what the JP1 tools could do, and after working ...

I've been working with JP1 software for weeks. It is not "easy".

I was working with RMIR and a URC-2025 until I discovered that the limitations of my intended elderly user and the limitations of the URC-2025 meant I couldn't make that remote do what I needed it to do. So I rounded up some more ...

I put in a feature request at the Roku Forum that they make the Roku 3 respond to IR signals for "A" and "B". If it responds already, maybe they'll mention it.

My question was about how to use RMIR to load any device upgrade file into a VUR8. I mentioned the Roku 3 because that's the particular upgrade file I was attempting to create. It could have been any device.

A device upgrade file for a Roku 3 or any particular device, as I presently understand ...

Have you sent all possible IR commands to a Roku 3 while it is displaying a streaming video to see if any supposedly unassigned IR signals bring up a menu allowing you to control whether subtitles appear or not?

RMIR, the VUR8, and the Roku 3

I'm working on a Device Upgrade file for a Roku 3.

(I am trying to see if what the "A" and "B" buttons on a Roku 3 RF remote do can be replicated in IR on a JP1 remote. These "A" and "B" buttons are used to control subtitles, in addition to what the Roku 3 "let's get started" brochure says they're ...

those buttons that supposedly don't do anything

Referring to the keys marked "A" and "B" on the Roku 3 RF remote

Well the UR's won't learn the codes. Part of the problem with those two keys is figuring out what they do in theory, let alone in the real world. Near as I can tell they don't do anything. Even if I wanted to just stick in codes ...

looks good at first glance

I ordered one of these. The seller is based in Hong Kong. This seller has 99.1% positive feedback on 17,486 transactions on eBay. 6 of these have been sold since I bought mine, 10 since the listing showed up. The listing says "more than 10" are available.

I ordered December 29, paying with PayPal ...

Duh. I see. Its a good thing stupid questions are allowed in this section. Thanks very much for your answer.

It seems had I converted the Vizio data from hex to decimal and entered it into the OBC column beside the correct function name, I would have been able to create a similar file to 3FCs ...

Using RM to create a new Device Upgrade file

I'm trying to create a new Device Upgrade file for a Vizio TV model SV421XVT. I searched the File Section and found 3FG's post entitled Vizio SV472XVT with discretes which seemed a good thing to start with. What 3FG provided was a link to a post containing a list of codes supplied to someone ...

I opened another instance of RM and copied the data from the first instance of RM into it. There are now no references to keymoves in the output of my new file, but otherwise the files look like they contain the same data.

Thanks.

The topic of keymoves on a URC-2025 came up, so I’m back here.

I’m working on a device upgrade file for an LG BP200 Blu-ray player. I started with a JP1 file section file , posted by flo, entitled “LG BP420 Blu-Ray Player (Remote AKB73615701)".

I verified that the OBC data in the original file was ...

Thanks for your advice and encouragement. I'm very glad to hear that what I want to do can be done with a URC-2025.

I'll follow your advice and attempt to create complete device upgrade files for any of the devices that could benefit. The TV in question definitely responds to discrete signals for ...
