Thanks for your advice about toggle bits and EFC. This makes it more clear to me. Though the standard guide about how to enter EFC won't apply to the 7781 I guess, since it has a different device selector with menu structure.

I got mine. A bit later than expected, but everything working great.
A great remote by the way, simple, robust and supporting lot of devices.

I found this very good offer and ordered one for me.
For that good price I would even get myself another as replacement.

I'm going to work through these hints. However I found some other data spec document about a similar cable: FTDI_-_SERIAL_CONVERTER_CABLE_TTL232R.pdf

I'm quite confused now.
"Easier Building the FTDI Interface.pdf" shows a 2x3 connector with only 4 wires connected into 2,3,4,6. This should be a JP1.2/3 cable.

"FTDI cable hack.pdf" finally shows a 2+3 connector but I can't see the final wiring, only a black one. Anyway the colors are completely ...

I found a picture with colors like my cable has: IMG. I'm going to use this mapping compared to the one in the cable hack pdf. Is there any chance to break something in the remote if wrong wired?
