Activity buttons

The special 'ComboCancel' was rediscovered and found most useful.

From the Manual:-
" 4.5 Special buttons for macro control
... ComboCancel cancels the current combo (activity) selection and returns the mode to that of the last selected device button."

On one of the activity buttons, Watch Tv or ...

PIP tv: a method/gadget for getting sound outputs from both?

Our Samsung QE65Q9FN has PIP 'Picture in Picture' and it would be nice to get the sound for one of the pictures from tv's speaker, and to get sound for the other picture from headphones.

There is no option like this in the tv's settings, just that to choose which sound track is to be played through ...

(My last post was Revised and then deleted by mistake in preparing this revision! :? )

Apologies Graham for the typo, I meant to refer only to the signatures of the three URC-6440 versions R00, R01, R02 and of course there is no 'R03' :?

At first when the extender did not install properly the ...

starting again

When our saved config files had become corrupt over several years we have just had to go back to square one with various URC 6440s.

Had forgotten how it all works but What a Pleasure JP1 and the Extender were to use, with the help of Mathdon's Extender 1.04 manual, and no probs with Java 8 update ...

Even so, the procedure I think used before, (after clicking on setup.vbs in RM)
was to open .rimir files by clicking on them and 'open with' RM, which displays: 'this app can't run on PC'.
There is no program called setup.vbs in the RMIR installation folder. There is Setup.vbs (with an upper-case ...

I am using RMIR on Windows 10, so not sure what you mean about Java not being supported. Thanks. With that encouragement:-

I tried again and got Java from https://www.java.com/en/download/win10.jsp , which 'this time' installed ok (maybe I tried the wrong download before?)

Even so, the procedure ...

Java come back!

I haven't needed RMIR for a while, until the prospect of a new TV. Now with Firefox and Windows 10 Java seems no longer to be supported. I have MS Edge too but don't think that supports Java either and am clueless about this sort of thing - so what could I do to get Java working again for RMIR please?

Yes you may have a faulty one. In our experience the OARUSB04G should be up with the better ones for IR power and should work even when the signal has to bounce off nearby flat surfaces.

+1 for the Extender but something which has happened with OARUSB04Gs, but not with our URC 6440's, is that the ...

Just to say that some time ago I was able to use the extender with the 4000 version, and to check that, before uploading your devices into the extended remote, you followed the instructions at the top of P.6 of the Installation Manual for OARUSB04G (as I understand it to extend it and put it in the ...

Hi Greg

Good points and so the extender makes an even greater difference, otherwise we might still be with 7950, which has the preferred fewer buttons although they are not so big and no backlight.

Among the remotes which are currently available, which is your favourite?

I thought it might be time to commend Mathdon's post about the Best Remote being URC6440, which presumably refers equally to OARUSB04G for which He also provided an Extender.

Since Mathdon published the Extenders for these remotes, we have needed no other help from the JP1 forum, simply because ...

Mathdon, yet again many thanks!

We are still using URC6440 and OARUSB04G for their excellent JP1 Extenders but, if they run out, might have to resort to newer remotes and would be able to carry on with JP1. Great news for people who are more up to date too.

Transferring URC-6440 RMIR file to/from OARUSB04G

Subject: New Samsung Q9F TV and URC 6440/OARUSB04G JP1 remotes

Hi again. For years we have been happily using the URC 6440/OARUSB04G with Samsung F8000 Tv as well as with a Sony Tv and find that their Extended JP1 setups also work fine for the later QF9 Tv, in fact miles better than the original ...

Hi

Maybe this article is relevant.

It seems to indicate that you might need a thing called Sonos "Playbar" or "Playbase", which can receive IR signals and pass them to a Samsung TV which has the "one-remote" controller, once the TV has been configured to "Universal Remote".
