thanx for reply got it working atlast com1 on motherboard did not work however com2 seems to work but seems to me that winlirc is very senstive to amount of cpu available — is that one of the failings of winlirc or can fine tuning improve performance?

Ir serial receiver not working using winlirc

I have built a ir serial receiver as per link below

The receiver does not seem to work.
My question is when looking at device manager win 7 should I see more information on com port to which device is connected than just available ...

I am using the file called testgroup.zip downloaded from forum file area --when I run the .bat file I get version 0.00---is there another file somewhere?

the rmir version is 2.03 build 14
Can I rotate the adapter 180 degrees without doing damage--I am pretty sure that I assembled it as per DYIGADGET's instructions but one never knows...?

The cable works fine with j1.3 remotes which I have rcrp05br and Atlas 1056b01
The adapter is installed as per instructions from DYIGADGET.
One question regarding 8910b02 --I assumed pin #1 is the pin next to label JP1 on pcb board--looking at remote from rear side with 6 pin ...

I have the JP1.x to JP1 adapter bought from Diygadget connected via my JP1.2 cable to pc serial connector.
Reading forum posts I see that I require jp12serial.dll bundled in jp12serial016.zip. This is from 2010. I have the latest Rmir installed do I still have swap the dlls in order for my remote to ...

The original file is fine- "return" is the "last" key it just has to be remapped to the correct key

Another question--This remote only sends digits 0-9 among other signals. Is there any way I could add another key using a universal remote (which has more keys)and send letters a-z. The remote must conform to some known/unkown protocol?!
