B I N G O !!

I tried the v2 IR file - all the buttons are there and working perfectly!

Thank you both so much!

I'll fix it up slightly (copy the select to the enter, etc.). I'll post it into the devices area as Xbox-Clone.

I will take all of those pictures I have of Xbox remotes and put them ...

Thanks Jon, but your upgrade didn't work either - just two or three of the buttons worked (same as Rob's last one).

I uploaded the last working upgrade (6800_IR_file.IR) to the diagnosis area in case you guys lost track of what was the working stuff. That file works flawlessly - except that it is ...

Hi Rob,

I tried 6800_IR_Rob.IR it behaved the same as the upgrade I modified with KM - only a couple of the keys worked (see previous list). I also tried 6800_IR_Rob2.IR - nothing worked on that one.

I've spent the morning doing research on how to identify my remote. I've found quite a few Xbox ...

More testing...

I finally found:

I've included them in the zip, there's called...
6800-Xbox-version1.IR
6800-Xbox-version2.IR

I had to redownload the xbox-rob.zip file - they weren't part of my original download.

The 6800-Xbox-version1.IR file behaves exactly like the xbox-rob-KM.txt file ...

Hi Robman,

The test of your new protocol did not go well. The only buttons which worked are right, select, ch-, stop, macro, macro2, 1, 4, 5. (I don't think I caused the problem with the work in KM since it was the macro and macro2 buttons I changed in KM and they still work.)

If it helps, I had a ...

The warning I get is:

The signature in the remote is different from the signature you are attempting to write. This indicates that the data you are trying to write may have come from an incompatible remote. Copying the entire contents of one remote to another can only be done safely if both ...

The IR file you provided is not compatible with my remote (it gives me a warning when I try to upload). So I figured I needed to use KM to change the remote to the 6800 and then use the new upgrade codes in IR to upload to my remote. Then there's the small matter of trying to find new codes which ...

Thanks Robman, I'll do all that you ask.

Another small glitch though... The KM file says it was developed with v8.20. I have v8.19 which also appears to be the latest available from yahoo.

For now I'll play with IR to test the new protocol until the new KM becomes available... (I always want to ...

I kind of like "NoName Xbox remote". The name is growing on me. Besides I still have no way of identifying it as anything else :-) At least there shouldn't be more than two or three remotes for the Xbox.

I'm happy to try and find more codes. I tried to do that for one of the other upgrades I posted ...

I'm guessing that the last message wasn't for me and that I am still waiting for someone to combine the two upgrades?

Thanks Mark,

Isn't that odd....IR 5.0 wouldn't take the .txt file until i renamed it to .ir - then everything worked perfectly.

Okay Jon... All buttons are good. There is not a single problem with any of them - "Print it!"

This has been a great day. I look forward to the combined upgrade. Thanks ...

Hi Jon,

The file you just posted gives me a file I/O error when I try to load it into IR. I tried both 5.0 and 4.02. Why did you change from .IR to .TXT?

As a result, I couldn't test the two macro buttons or the zero key.

I had learned ch+ and 2 because they were on my list of commands I had not ...

Now that's handholding! I guess it was easier to DO than to explain to an idiot eh

Sending me the .IR file forced me to upgrade to the latest version of IR 5.0 (rev 4 is it?) - at least that's out of the way now :)

You are very close indeed!

Basically everything works. Pressing the 0 ...

Being a basement there is of course metal ductwork around. That was my original inspiration for hiding it in the ceiling above any of that stuff. I was also careful to pick a location away for the receiver away from the duct that my remot could get a non-metalic shot at.

Now that I know I should ...

We also recommend putting aluminum foil over your head

I like it :-)

Taping over the LEDs solved most of my issues with the two VCRs and being in the same room as the blaster.

Funny thing about my Sony VCRs... I've had a few over the years (my kids wear them out or the power supplies fail) - My ...
