My cable is an original JP1 format, parallel cable, which I bought from "Tom" at filebug.com in 2004. I have the old 8810 to use it with. I am now 64-bit Vista, but I do still have a parallel port on my laptops docking station.

If this configuration might still work with the drivers mentioned ...

Thanks All,

One of the codes suggested by 3FG did the trick (67401). I had never found that Lookup Tool before (despite its being right in front of me). I had searched messages, and the file section for info, but not that. THere is great stuff in there.

I had tried the (old) cable with the 8810 ...

Looking for one EFC5 code for Denon S-101

The basics:

1. Device: Denon S-101. This is similar to the S-301, S-302, and S-102 I believe.
2. Type of device: HTIB (Amp, Tuner, DVD, speakers)
3. Year: Bought 2007
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: Cox URC-7820 (URC 7820ABP1-0004-R)
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? An old parallel one that I can no longer ...

Rob,

I uploaded a spreadsheet to the Codes/Home-Theater section that documents my current remote setup. Until I get a cable and a cheap JP1 learning remote I wouldn't be able to tackle creating an actual upgrade.

The gist is that if the "DVD" and "AUX" functions are essentially merged into an ...

Rob,

I ended up going the semi-brute force route with good success. I brought in each of the Denon upgrades into KM and noted likely ECF5 codes, then just tried them out. It did not take too long to find the one I needed.

That Cox URC-7820 does accept ECF5 codes, which is great. It does not seem ...

IR not recognizing parallel cable

Hi,
I'm back to JP1 after some quiet years, so I'm kind of relearning. I've downloaded all the latest software, but I'm having trouble with IR and getting it to see my remote.

I have an old parallel JP1 cable, attached to my old URC-8811 remote.

IR (v7.15) always returns "Failed to open JP1.x ...

I was able to manually apply the EFC5 code of 33879 to a key under the audio/1360 map, but it was not the EFC5 code I was looking for.

As it turns out 33879 toggles the audio-input (DTS, PMS, ANALOG), not the video input (AUX1, AUX2, AUX3).

I thought I would try using KM to generate all the EFC5 ...

Rob,
Some great ideas in your reply...

1 - I do have the old URC-8810 remote, so learning on that and moving it via JP1 software on the Cox remote should work. I definitely had not thought of that!

2 - The DVD/0634 does work for the DVD functions. I had tried that code before, but I only tested ...

Codes for Denon S-101 HTIB?

Hi, I did some JP1 years ago, but am getting back into it -- I hope.

Looking to know if there is a code map for a Denon S-101 out there. I could not find one anywhere. See below.

1. Device: Denon S-101. This is similar to the S-301, S-302, and S-102 I believe.
2. Type of device: HTIB (Amp, Tuner ...

All,
In addition to learning a bunch of keys, I am going to try buiding an "upgrade" for one of my other remotes that will be easy to test (like my Replay remote). This way I can raise my confidence that I have figured out how to actually do an upgrade.

Thanks.

Rob,
Thanks for the direction. I will do just what you suggest.

I don't mind doing the upgrade key by key myself, it seemed reasonably straightforward (providing I had a good protocol to use). If you or others (Jon) would build a protocol, that would be awesome.

I have some other things to play ...

If you know that your HTIB has Pioneer components, ...

Aye, there's the rub. I really don't know that. I don't know anything about it at all really. There is precious little info on the HTIB or its remote around.

I will go back to learning all the codes and building my own device(s). That's OK ...

Jon/Mark,

Thanks for the advice. I have all the tools, cables, and have been reading for what seems like days.

I sat down the other night and built a spreadsheet listing all keys on the OFA 8810w, and all the keys on the RCA RTD300 remote. Then I cycled through all the modes of the HT, hitting ...

GAP-500-1179-8?

Hi,
I am trying to build a new device for my RCA RTD300 HT. I read the JP1 for Beginners and JP1 Easy tutorials, downloaded all the tools, got a cable, and got started. Downloads and Uploads seem to work fine until I tried to build a new device.

When I learn keys on my Walmart OFA 8810w, IR shows ...

Re: OFA 8810 and RCA RTD300

Mark,
To get the RCA codes in, I have to learn them one by one into the OFA remote keys right? Sounds kind of painstaking. Presumably I could "learn" the 1 and 9 keys an infer the others, that kind of thing? Are there strategies to doing this that could save me time?
