A somewhat related question:

Are the DEVICETYPE mappings in the RDF also hard-coded in the remote?

It would seem that they are. I started with the WIP starter RDF , where all the DEVICEMAP settings were originally set to zero.

[DeviceTypes]
Cable = 0
TV = 0
VCR = 0
Audio = 0
OEM = 0

While the ...

In most remotes, there is nothing special about a "macro" button (other than it is not in any button map).

Thanks, I think that was the main point I was trying to confirm.

Thanks also for other RDF info. Yes, I also knew that the keymap bitmap needs to be adjusted (since first byte is $7F) to ...

UMIAUMI0 Help with Millenium Interactive (URC41xxx) remote

The latest IRhelp PDF file is very informative and filled in a lot of missing holes for me. I have been searching for something similar for RDF mod/generation, and can't find that (maybe for good reason).

I have spent a fair amount of time working on this remote and could use a little help. This ...

Rob,

It is not anything complicated or all that interesting. I am more trying to improve reliability of detection in a system where I know some pulse stretching is occurring, due to a combination of IR detector/receiver and follow on IR repeaters. I want to pre-shorten some of the pulses to account ...

Thanks Rob.

Running through the tools for a while, it still wasn't entirely clear to me which one was better suited (KM vs RM). I get some funny behavior sometimes in KM and PB where the function buttons were resizing and just about disappearing after I had gone through a number of iterations. I'd ...

Let me explain what I think Joe is trying to do.

He wants to build a brand new protocol, one that I assume he is inventing himself, so there's no device to be controlled at this point, nor is there an original remote to learn from.

Yes, what he said. (But with a small caveat, I'll get to that ...

What I what to be able to do is modify the protocol for a specific purpose. Before I did that, I wanted to confirm that I can load the original protocol (as an upgrade) int othe 8811 and convince myself that that part of the process works. As part two, I want to make changes to the protocol. I was ...

need help with protocol mods for URC-8811

First off, as someone with a fair amount of IR experience, I have to say 'hats off' for the tools produced in conjunction with this forum.

In the early 90s, my then employer was working with an upstart company that was building a database of IR code, a language to describe the protocols , and ...
