Hi,

Thanks for suggestions Vicky. I tried to undefine shift and use x-shift as the alternate function and it did not help. I also tried to not use x-shift and specify a different unshifted key but that did not help (eg [Single]:Shift-Stop (undef) [Double]: Pause).

The reason I originally used x ...

Hi,

I got my ebay USB/TTL cable today and did the modifications as summarized by jgfarrell above. I tested the cable with the jp1xtest.exe program and it works fine. I like that it has an obvious key for pin one (a notch in the connector) and it was only $12 shipped.

Thanks for the great pointers ...

Hi,

Instead of using mce I also tried using CBL/1376 and I still get issues. Here's my file:

https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=10874

To reproduce:
1) Press and hold right for 5 seconds
2) Let go and immediately double click right twice (to get DKP)
3) Wait 1 second ...

Hi,

Thanks for the summary. I like your tips of using the Olfa knife and having the tabs facing outwards. I'll give it a try once my cable arrives.

Cheers

The issue with the Nokia solution is I can't find a cheap source for the 2x3 IDC connector. I'm planning on using this method posted by underquark to convert the 1x6 IDC connector into a 2x3:

https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=10998

This seems pretty easy to do.

Re: Would this cable also work?

Thanks for the info; there must be a better cable. The reason I don't want to go with the recommended cable is I'm outside the US and Mouser charges $20 extra for shipping.

On eBay there are quite a few options with the search terms "usb ttl ft232 cable". Tommy says 3.3V is recommended but will 5V ...

Would this cable also work?

Hi,

I spotted this $9 USB to serial converter and was wondering if you think it would work:

https://www.dealextreme.com/p/usb-to-uart-5-pin-cp2102-module-serial-converter-81872?item=2

If so, in order to connect the cable correctly, what are the pinouts of the 6 pin connector for a JP1.3 remote ...

Hi,

"Rogers" is a big cable TV and internet provider in Canada. At some of their stores they have a service desk where you go to take your used equipment (eg pvr) back (and maybe buy new equipment). I talked to a guy today that said he used to get a lot of free stuff (eg starter pack of cables and ...

Hi 3FG,

What you suggest works for me. Thanks.

I was referring to the "Edit Device" button on the "General" tab (below the table of the 8 device buttons and above the "General Notes" text box) . I'm guessing that this "Edit Device" button is only active if I have a device upgrade already added. I ...

Hi,

Thanks for the correction with the key moves.

For the rest of my post I'm trying to reassign keys via the "Device Upgrade". If I click on the CBL device in the General tab the Edit Device(?) button becomes active and the window opens where I can define a device upgrade. I assigned different ...

Hi,

I found the .rdf and .map files in the file section here . I'm running RMIR 2.02 beta 1.5r .

It works quite well but keymoves don't seem to work. I tried to do a keymove with Setup/9/9/4 but that doesn't work either.

I was able to move keys around with the device upgrade but it doesn't seem ...

Hi I have one of these remotes too. I went to the Rogers store and asked the worker if they sold remotes and he went into the back and gave me one for free!

I can't find the updated RDF for it. Where are they? I don't see them in the other post.

It has pins 5-3-1 on the silkscreen (1 is top-right ...

Hi,

Sad day for me. I seem to have bricked my RCRP05B too. I plugged my JP1 cable in backwards and now no lights appear and RM IR 2.02 beta says "No remotes found". I've tried 2 different sets of batteries.

I'm using extender 1.05 and was re-installing the extender after making a keymove. I'm ...

Hi just4fn,

In the extender's documentation the last key of a macro should repeat if you continue to press the key down so that seems correct and quite useful. Try adding Dev_Cancel to your macro to stop that behavior (I think that is documented in the ReadMe.txt).

Thanks.
