The OP was asking for protocol executor code for a remote which uses the 740 microprocessor. The upgrade you linked doesn't have, nor does protocols.ini, 740 code for the DirecTV IR protocol.

It is very unlikely that anyone will create 740 support. There can't be many users left. I haven't posted ...

What happpens when a remote's backlight is on all night

A long, long time ago (7+ years ago), someone posted here that their remote was draining rechargeable batteries every night. Rob correctly surmised that only the backlight could drain that much electricity.

A few years ago a remote that I had repaired with electrically conductive paint had ...

The GAP decodes that you are seeing don't provide enough informatoin for anyone to make a device upgrade from. They loosely describe the signal, but are mainly a placeholder to let us know that the signal wasn't recognized by DecodeIR.DLL.

The first thing you should do is download the latest ...

Has anybody here built this device and got it working? I did build it, but I was never able to get it working.

I just called Tommy Tyler as he didn't respond to a recent email that I sent him and it turns out that he's finished with JP1 projects, due mainly to the fact that he didn't get any ...

Maybe this has already occurred to you, but looking at the simple interface instructions
(specifically the last paragraph), it seems that the simple interface depends on four
components on the remote's PCB: R37, R17, R19,& C11. R100 (3.3K) corresponds to
R19 (10k), C11 corresponds to CD39 (both 0 ...

Well, there's no way to tell what IR is doing without hearing from Mark or looking at the source. But IR uses porttalk (which you can download from here ) to get the needed low level access to the parallel port. So you could use the wrapper application (called allowio.exe) to do some testing.

For ...

Nope, the "bit banging" that JP1 does (raising and lowering the voltage on the individual pins on the parallel port) can't handle the delays added by the USB port dongle and the USB bus.

Re: Adding two button codes to existing setup code

As described in the DecodeIr online documentation (which no one seems to read)

This is a good point. I know what DecodeIR.dll does and why it's important, and I still had to do a search to find the URL. There should be a sticky post that links to the zip file and to the documentation at least in ...

Can I not use db's for special macros? The notes say you can't do keymoves.
Unfortunately, special protocols are keymoves programmed to use a special device and protocol. The reason you can't use keymoves on db-8 through db-14 is that the remote only stores three bits of the keymove device. So ...

Nope, he reads the forums regularly. And the fact that DecodeIR.dll has a name for the protocol is a good sign -- it ...

I'm a little confused by what you're looking for, so let me try to clarify. In a previous post you mentioned that you were using the extender for the 9910. You know that extender doesn't support learned codes, right? Are you planing on ditching the extender temporarily?

Now for some things to try ...

First of all, we aren't "creating" a new setup code, are we? Doesn't that code just pop up in KM as soon as you load the upgrade text? In my case, it was 1023. Here's the language that would have made me understand that I needed to enter that number next to AUD in the IR Device Buttons field:

"Don ...

Jason,

Sorry for the huge gap in time before I got back to you on this. I finally put some time aside to focus on this.

Not a problem. I have a new version for you to try.

7. I then tested that the remote still did what I expected and pretty much it did. Except that it seemed to send all the ...

Your right, its only a header. Does Radio Shack carry them?

Radio Shack doesn't sell either a 6 pin header or the Pogo pin adapter. You can buy header pins from electronics supply stores, but the pogo pin adapter is custom made for JP1. For that check out the sellers listed in the Marketplace ...
