FYI, another voice here... purchased two 8910s and a USB cable (new Dell w/o parallel port, yada yada...) from Rob and ...

After messing around, loading the drivers from the DIY site, I got the same SDA error. The USB cable indeed has the cable off the pin header the opposite way from most/all ...

Thanks for that update, Capn. I do know whereof you speak, having done some software development a while back.

Good to know the most current ones are here, and I'll be sure to use them going forward!

Yeah, with the software I was using it still didn't work. I then download IR 6.20 and it's fine. Go figure.

Thanks for all the suggestions:

One question: Shouldn't the current recommended software be in the tools section here, or not? I find different versions here than on Yahoo. (8.44 KM there ...

Still the same failure. I even deleted the new DVD device, and the R15 still looses the 'new' functions on those buttons when the device and protocol are pasted in.

Capn, did you mean to include the new IR file? In any event, I'd like to get it working on my copy....

Anyone got any suggestions on ...

Hm... I was copying using the clipboard button, and pasting variously with ctrl-V and menu items. Let me try using copy and not the clipboard button, and see.

Thanks for checking it out!

8910 with DirecTV R15 DVR and Toshiba DVD HDXa1

(I've used IR and KM a bit a year ago, but I'm sure I've forgotten something stupid, so I'm posting this in the beginner section.... :) )

Modifying my old 8910 config for new DVR and DVD. Both files seem to work fine in KM (8.44). The recent added functions to the DVR (advance and replay) were ...

Ick, user error.. :) Since 'Guide' is also Guide for Replay. I'm all AFU'd up. Workaround: 'Sleep' for the Custom Guide, M1/M2 for changing from 4:3 to 16:9, and M3 for all power toggle until I get to better answers.

Thanks for all the work! :)

Well, that doesn't work at all. Using that downloaded file, 'Guide' (when in 'guide' mode as usual) brings up the usual Replay Guide (VCR/0617).

Any more ideas? Thanks for all the help!

Thanks for the work,, however: (1) It does't work (only does 'info' not 'guide/guide/down/select') and (2) appears to be the exact the same changes as a version I sent you. (I *diid* do a KM also...)

Argh! Now what?!

Each time I do this, the TV device button comes back as dev TV/0047, which is what 'db-08' is defined as. And to fix it, I need to load it from a known good remote. Can't even reload from a saved file! WTF?! Also, when I follow the steps above, the device comes back as the VCR, not TV.... either way ...

Okay, as usual, the Yahoo files create more questions... the special protocols 1.16 file seems to have some issues. Loaded it, changed to 8910, Sat 0639 (as am using). It talks abouts installing the protocoll and device upgrade, but they insert themselves as 'VCRs'. Good or bad? The instructions ...
