I changed the leadout timing to use 18 82 and the gap is now 13ms. I also removed some extraneous instructions and code is smaller than before. Timing looks the same.

I added your red text to my protocols.ini file and now the upgrade works pretty well on my URC-8820n.

All buttons work and do what they're supposed to with the exception of the Menu button. It looks like that one may mapped to the Mic button on the original remote. In most cases, the Menu button ...

I tried it but I don't think it works.

Once I copied the line into my protocols.ini, I could open the upgrade in RM and select the URC-8820N without getting an error. I uploaded it to my remote but when I press any of the mapped buttons, the Power button lights up for 4 seconds or so and nothing ...

I'm trying to get this device upgrade to work on my URC-8820N Extender A:

But when I open it up in RemoteMaster and select my remote I get an error:

Hmm...well, that's good to know.

Did you want this to be part of your device selection macro? If so it can't be on the device key.
That's exactly what I'm trying to do. I want to be able to hold down a Device key while in any device mode and have it switch the right inputs of all my ...

This sounds like it could be loose batteries or weak batteries. if a low voltage situation is encountered the remote will forget its extended.
I tried brand new batteries and I get the same symptoms.

Do all the keys work at least once?
After a lot more button pushing, I've discovered how to ...

I'm trying to use this extender with an 8820N. I've pretty much gotten it to do everything I want but it seems to regularly forget that it's extended. The LKPs I've set on the device keys just stop working. If I quickly and repeatedly (10 times or so) press the device key and then try my LKP again ...

Ahh.....of course. That was definitely it. Thanks so much.

The reason I programmed Aux1 that way was because I was copying the way the other Device keys are programmed. I thought that's how they came in that extender by default (I'm very likely mistaken).

After some trial and error, I've realized ...

8820 with extender locks up after installing upgrade

I'm trying to install the Zune Dock upgrade on my 8820. I've assigned it to AUX1. It seems to work OK until I activate the URC8820ExtA7 extender. After activating the extender, the remote locks up as soon as I press AUX1.

I assume I'm making some silly mistake. Any idea what that might be?

Here's ...

Thanks for the replies. I tried learning the GUIDE button from the original remote but it seems to be just as bad (if not a little worse) just like you said it might be.

I also tried the other upgrade as suggested but I get the same results with that one as well. I believe the EFC in the upgrade I ...

It looks like this remote uses OBC values 0-63. Currently the "Guide" button is assigned an OBC value of 27. Is it worth trying the remaining 21 or so unused OBC values to see if one of them works better? Or am I barking up the completely wrong tree?
